The month of November is a great of importance for the statehood’s history of Azerbaijan Republic. Because of the reasonable historical days are dealing with our statehood have been mentioned in this month.  They are follows: Nov 9 is a Day of National Flag, Nov 12 is a Day of Constitution and Nov 17 is a Day of National Revival. All of three holidays is solemnly celebrated in SSU as well as the all regions of our Republic run in a public level.
Making an opening speech after the National Anthem of Azerbaijan Republic the rector professor Mr. E. Huseynov has congratulated the participants and spoke about the services of national leader Haydar Aliyev for the preservation of our national statehood and his values to the three colored flag. He notified that before declaration of independence, while the Soviet Union is still in a power, the son of the nation Heydar Aliyev raised the three colored flag of Azerbaijan in Nakhichevan. Thus, since the return of great sun of the nation Heydar Aliyev, the spectacular public servant to Nakhichevan and to the big policy on June 22, 1990 the flag was declared as the State flag of Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic in the session held by leadership of Heydar Aliyev on November 17, 1990. Meanwhile, Supreme Assembly of Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic petitioned to Supreme Soviet of USSR for recognition of three colored flag as the State flag of Azerbaijan. On Feb 5 in 1991, the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan Republic had adopted the Law “about State Flag” on public request and three colored flag was gained the status of the State flag. A worthy successor of political way by national leader Heydar Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan Republic  Mr. Ilaham Aliyev has concluded an Order “about establishment of the Day of State Flag of Azerbaijan Republic ”. And by the same year National Assembly of Azerbaijan Republic has declared officially 9th November as the Day of State Flag. The President’s order dated Nov 17, 2007 “about the establishment of State flag square in Baku” brought about the construction of the tallest flag pole of the world in so-called Bayil settlement of Baku. Our flag demonstrates our loyalty to our independence, national and spiritual values and universal ideas.
Sharing on possibilities for every citizen of Azerbaijan on the basis of Foundation of Constitution of Independent Azerbaijan Republic and historical value of National Revival Day he remarked that if were not the happenings of 17th November it would not be an independence of Azerbaijan gained on October 18, 1991. Azerbaijan has passed through the unique development during 25 years by relying on its national and spiritual values, patriotism and make up will.  By conclusion of the speech the rector wished the soonest liberation of the territories of Azerbaijan under the leadership of Mr. Ilahm Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan Republic and Supreme Commander and to wave the national flag in Khankendi, Shuha  which are under the occupation.  The holiday event went on with concert made by artists and amateurs of the university.
