Our university has held an event dedicated to the subject on “How do the Russians celebrate the New Year” arranged by the Linguistic Center. Making an opening speech the head of Linguistic Center Mr. A. Abdullayev congratulated the participants and wished them best regards. He widely spoke about the activity of the center and expressed his deep thanks to the rector of the University for the presented conditions. Meanwhile, he notified that Amina Musayeva made a lot for the organization of this event on a voluntary basis since beginning of the center’s activity.
The students widely spoke about how do the Russians celebrate the New Year and they notified that The New Year is celebrated by the world in same the time on December 31, but the traditions of the countries are different. The New Year is more welcomed holiday in Russia. The children are looking forward for the gifts and the adults for the happiness out of New Year. This tradition had been founded by the Peter the Great 300 years ago. The tables of the Russian families are adorned by the delicious salads, meals and cakes on the eve of the New Year. If the table would be full and nice the upcoming year would be like this as well. Different carnivals and balls are arranged accordingly and everybody enjoy this holiday along the night till the morning. At the same time the students touched in their speeches on activity of Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva which is the vise-president of Haydar Aliyev Fund and meanwhile, the chief of Union of Azerbaijanis Youth in Russia. They spoke about her participation in the events on the occasion of Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis and New Year holiday which has been arranged by her initiative and the several projects are realized by the Azerbaijanis Youth in Russia under her leadership. It was noted that the Union cooperates with several leading public and high schools of Russia in a high level. Mrs. L. Aliyeva plays a peerless role for the unity of youth in Russia and at the same time for the realization of their initiatives in the field of science, education, art and etc. Afterwards, the students sang the songs in Russian and they made the different quizzes and games.
Making a speech the rector, professor Mr. E. Huseynov congratulated participants of the event on the occasion of holiday and expressed his deep thanks to the head of Linguistic Center Mr. A.Abdulayev and senior lecturer of department of Russian language Mrs. Amina Musayeva for the great arrangements. In the end he wished the luck to the students in their winter exams.
