On May 11, the 17th Republican scientific conference was held in Sumgait State University devoted to the 94th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev. Rectors, pro-rectors and teaching staff from universities of the country attended the conference.
At first, participants of the conference arranged flowers on Heydar Aliyev’s bust in university foyer.
The rector, Professor Elkhan Huseynov who was the chairman of the conference welcomed the attendees, emphasized the significance of the Republican scientific conference of undergraduates which is held annually by the Ministry of Education and talked about Heydar Aliyev’s role in reconstruction and strengthening of the statehood. He said that H.Aliyev always paid attention on the special role and importance of the education in the fate and prosperity of the people and appreciated it highly. He knew that the only way of the nation’s progress is qualitative education and awareness of the people. His wise science policy is being carried on successfully by the President Ilham Aliyev. Today, the protection and development of scientific potential which is national wealth of Azerbaijan are the important directions of state policy. According to “Azerbaijan – 2020: vision of the future” Development Concept, formation of knowledge society based on intellectual development model is adopted as main strategic policy. In this regard, high schools of the republic have great responsibility. The main purpose in holding such kind of conferences is to involve youth in scientific research as well as raising the level of training of future professionals. The rector also noted that it is very nice that the number of participants of the conference grows by year. In 2014 in the 14th Republican scientific conference more than 770 master students from 15 high schools took part, whereas this year about 1400 lecture materials from 16 high schools were received. In one hand it is the result of an increasing interest by master students to scientific conferences, in the other hand it is the efficient work by the organizing committee. By the way he said that master students from different universities introduced their thesis: 224 from Sumgait State University, 309 from UNEC, 205 from Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, 202 from Azerbaijan State Oil and Industrial University, 130 from Baku Slavic University, 61 from Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, 51 from Ganja State University. Wishing success to the course of the conference the rector also noted that such types of conferences play a role of bridge between master students.
The rector of Baku Business University, professor Ibad Abbasov, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, professor Asaf Zamanov addressing the importance of the conference noted that it stimulates the scientific activities of young researchers and increases their interest of scientific research work. Speakers challenged master students to integrate into the world science and strengthen their scientific potential through permanent research.
In the conference Saida Mirzali from UNEC, Mirjalal Abdulov from Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Elshad Shahnazarov from Azerbaijan State Oil and Industrial University, Rufat Hashimov from Baku Slavic University, Vusala Vahabova from Sumgait State University made reports relating their topics and activities of their universities. They also thanked to SSU administration for the atmosphere created for youth.
Head of the Department of doctoral and master's degrees of SSU, assistant professor Sabir Khalilov said that the submitted reports dedicated to rather pressing problems. The conference will last two days in 19 sections. Heads of departments will report about the conference. Sabir Khalilov especially emphasized that at the end of the conference participants who made interesting report and were active will be rewarded with diplomas and presents by Sumgait State University. The speaker also noted that all submitted thesis is printed as three-volume collection.
After the reports the conference continued its work in various sections.
