On May 24, next seminar was held on “Heydar Aliyev and 28 May our national pride day” in Heydar Aliyev School of university. Professor Elkhan Huseynov the rector of university commenced the event with opening speech, congratulated attendees on Republic Day and notified that, next seminar is dedicated to the topic “Heydar Aliyev and 28 May our national pride day”. He told that, this day is engraved in freedom and independence history of our nation with gold letters. Azerbaijani people were released from colonial subjection of tsarist Russia which lasted more than a century, on May 28, 1918 and founded first democratic republic of East.
Despite a short life of 23 months, first activities of the republic had significant impacts on establishment of the independent statehood bases and determining future improvement. After 70 years Azerbaijanis stood up again and struggled for their freedom, independence and integrity. They also gave the martyrs on this way, but persisted in struggling. On October, 1991 Azerbaijan declared its independence for the second time in XX century. On May-June, 1993 there was threat of occurrence of civil war and losing independence. Heydar Aliyev came to power for the second time by nation’s request and Azerbaijan entered new phase of freedom. So, socio-political, economic, scientific, cultural life, international relations of Azerbaijan changed and state establishment process was started due to global norms and principles.
The Rector notified that, the role and place of great leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijani history will be discussed for a long time. Because Heydar Aliyev’s activity is so great and rich that it will always be subject of researches. Nowadays we could say that, President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev continues political course of great leader in all fields, so our country gains important achievements and hosts significant contests. E.g. Azerbaijan hosted “Baku -2017” IV Islamic Solidarity Games, and was remembered with brilliant victories. Among participating countries Azerbaijan was the first with 75 gold medals. Mr. Elkhan Huseynov congratulated our nation on behalf of university staff and wished success and prosperity.
Afterwards, the following people made the speeches accordingly: professor Shirxan Salimov the head of the faculty of History and its teaching methods- “Heydar Aliyev and 28 May our national pride day”; Nemat Ibayev PhD in philology, lecturer of the department of Azerbaijani language and linguistics-“Independent Azerbaijan founded by Heydar Aliyev and Democratic Republic traditions”; Samir Karimli PhD in history, lecturer of the department of History and its teaching methods-“Education policy of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic”; Sevinj Hasanli 3rd course student of Mathematics faculty-“Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and its contributions to Azerbaijan statehood”; Fagan Safaraliyev 3rd course student of the faculty of History and geography-“Socio-economic policy of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic”. The speakers mentioned that, the Republic founded national statehood traditions for XX century East, which is the glorious page of our history, logical consequence of national freedom struggle and has an important role in our present statehood history. They emphasized that, after gaining its independence at the end of XX century Azerbaijan escaped to lose the independence thanks to great leader Heydar Aliyev’s wide political thoughts, management experience and rational activity. Heydar Aliyev preserved our independence and founded Azerbaijan which has become a modern, powerful, prestigious state and leader in the region.
