On May 25, with the organization of the Ministry of Education, Sumgayit State University and ANAS Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics the international scientific conference on “The Theoretical and Applied Problems of Mathematics” dedicated to the 55th anniversary of Sumgayit State University was held.
Director of ANAS Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, associate member of ANAS, Professor Misir Mardanov and representatives of other high schools of our republic as well as scholars and professionals from Turkey, Georgia, Russian Federation and other countries participated in the conference. The rector of the university Professor Elkhan Huseynov opened the conference, welcomed the guests and expressed his satisfaction for having them. He noted that Sumgayit State University has contributed to scientific-intellectual potential of the country and is on the eve of its 55-year anniversary. For this purpose, range of events, international scientific symposiums, conferences and seminars are organized; exchange of professor-teacher staff is provided; research projects in the fields of common interest are implemented together; and all these indicate progress of the university.
Emphasizing the significance of the conference, the rector talked about establishment of application of information-communication technologies, several science labs and current situation in teaching of science. He noted that the great leader always paid attention on the special role and significance of education in destiny of the country and the nation. This policy is being carried on by the President Ilham Aliyev now. Sumgayit State University plays its role in preparing scientific cadres and in development of mathematics as in many fields in the country. The rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov wished success to the work of the conference and noted the importance of frequent hold of such conferences.
Making speech on the topic: “From the history of mathematics in Azerbaijan” Professor Misir Mardanov gave detailed information about scientists who had irreplaceable works in development of mathematics and mechanics in Azerbaijan and noted that they always represented the country perfectly. M. Mardanov drew attention to close relations of the institute which he leads with many scientific, educational centers and its contributions to the formation of intellectual cadre potential of the country. He stressed that the international conference is stimulus for integration of science and education.
Then, some of the guests made speeches on different topics: Andrei Fursikov from faculty of mathematics of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov, Professor of department of Common problems of management - “Normal type parabolic equation connected with 3D Helmholts system and its non-local stabilization”; Kamil Sabitov, Professor, head of department of mathematical analysis of Sterlitamak branch of Bashkiria State University, Associate member of Bashkiria Republic Academy of Science – “On non-local Frankle problem for mixed type equation”; Tamas Tadumadze, Professor of Institute of Applied Mathematics of Tbilisi State University – “Some questions of quality theory of differential equations with delayed argument: solutions of variations formulas, optimization, sensitivity analysis”; Micola Ivanchov, Professor, head of department of differential equations of Lvov National University named after Ivan Franco – “On inverse problem for thermal conductivity equation in strong degenerating rectangular domain”; Fikrat Feyziyev, Professor, head of department of differential equations and optimization in Sumgayit State University – “Development and modern problems of modular dynamic systems theory”. In the conference, lectures were delivered and discussions were held on topical issues of functional analysis and the theory of functions, differential equations and mathematical physics, optimization and optimal control, teaching methods of mathematics and information science. The conference continued its work in sessions.
It should be noted that 310 theses out of 385 were admitted to the conference and they have been published as a collection of conference materials.
