The declaration of 2017 “Year of Islamic Solidarity” by President Mr. Ilham Aliyev assembled whole Islamic countries; with high confidence earned in Islamic community proved that, the only criterion is frankness in order to gain the confidence of nations, countries and societies. Azerbaijan, with its sincere intention to Islamic solidarity, could rise to the top of petty interests and strengthen the position that was sufficiently strong till nowadays in Muslim world. For this aim some representatives of Islamic countries hold meetings in higher educational institutions and expand bilateral relations. On May 31, Husnan Bey Fananie Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Azerbaijan Republic met with teaching and student staff of Sumgayit State University.
Greeting the guest, the rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov expressed his satisfaction to see him in the university and widely spoke about development of Azerbaijan and Indonesian relations in economic-commercial, tourism and educational fields. He talked about the establishment history, activity profile and international relations of SSU. The rector informed that, SSU collaborates with several leading higher educational institutions, as well with international companies and organizations. Noting the improvement of Indonesia-Azerbaijan friendship and brotherhood, he expressed his hope in future development of these relations. Our countries corporate within the framework of UN, Organization of Islamic Corporation and other international organizations. Talking about the importance of declaration of this year “Islamic Solidarity Year” in our country, Professor Elkhan Huseynov noted that, this declaration is a sign of great importance given by Mr. Ilham Aliyev to Islamic solidarity. Islamic world that possesses ancient history, wide cultural heritage, natural and human resources plays an important role in establishment and development of modern world order and the system of international relations. Islam always inspires peace, tolerance, humanism ideas and contributes to world civilization. Nowadays, Azerbaijan, being the significant part of Muslim world, is recognized as one of the main places in foundation and preservation of Islamic cultural heritage. So, declaration of 2017 “Islamic Solidarity Year” is a genial message to Muslim community and the world. The main object of “Islamic Solidarity Year” is to strengthen unity in Muslim world and to display Islam as a religion of peace and culture. I consider that, Islamic Solidarity Games hold in Baku on May was engraved to history not only as a sport competition, but also the days of unity and solidarity of whole Islamic world.
At the end of his speech, the rector appraised that, this meeting will expand perspective growth of cooperation and educational relations between higher educational institutions of Indonesia and SSU. 
Ambassador of Indonesia to Azerbaijan Husnan Bey Fenanie expressed his thanks to Rector and university staff for frank reception and gave general information about his country. Notifying the possession of same religion and similar cultural values of our nations the ambassador informed that, he will do his best to expand bilateral relations. Husnan Bey Fananie emphasized the importance of Islamic Solidarity Games.
The meeting went on with the exchange of ideas on future collaboration, exchange of teaching-student staff and other issues.
Afterwards, the ambassador met with students of university. Presenting on “Development of Indonesian economy”, he expressed his satisfaction being with them and said that, Azerbaijan is a native country for him. Talking about Indonesia, H. Fananie informed that, Indonesia is a wide island country and stands in fourth place after China Democratic Republic, India and USA for number of population. He told that, Indonesia has rich and ancient history and gained its independence in 1945. The ambassador also spoke about culture, economics and education of his country and said that, the majority of the population is Muslims.
Then, he replied the students’ questions. The ambassador’s performance in piano welcomed with interest.
