On July 12, the last meeting of 2016-2017 academic year was held. Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov welcomed council members and before switching to issues on the agenda Firudin Mammadov’s (Professor, head of Electromechanics department of physics and electroenergetics faculty, corresponding member of ANAS), Hamid Aliyev’s (Professor, head of department of history and its teaching method of history and geography faculty), Suleyman Babayev’s (senior lecturer of general and inorganic chemistry department of chemistry and biology faculty)and Khalifa Mustafayev’s (docent of physics and electroenergetics faculty) memories were commemorated with a minute of silence.
According to the agenda of the meeting, rector made a speech about general outcomes of 2016-2017 education year, talked about success and upcoming tasks. He noted Ilham Aliyev’s care on education in the country and said that it has had an impact on SSU, too. The university is making progress in terms of being relevant to requirements of modern time. Material-technical base of the university is improved and suitable conditions are setup for students’ development and high education. Rector thanked to the Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov for the order which compromised students’ academic debt.
Rector congratulated vice-rector on Science and innovation Ramazan Mammadov for being given scientific title of professor and head of Azerbaijan’s and foreign countries’ literature department Avtandil Mammadov for receiving scientific degree of Doctor of Philology by Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and wished success in their scientific-pedagogical activities.
Director of educational and methodological center docent Isabal Qurbanov provided broad information about results of spring semester exam session for bachelor degree and state attestation of fourth-year students and introduced other statistical information and success indicators of different faculties. Also, he delivered a speech on preparations for summer exam session.
Head of doctorate and master programs office docent Sabir Khalilov made a report on exam session of spring semester in master degree and master dissertation work defence.
Elkhan Huseynov talked about preparations for 2017-2018 education year and made suggestions.
Vice Rector for Teaching and learning technologies docent Natig Talibov informed on implementation of the decision №257 dated June 14, 2017 received by Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic which intends to give chance to repeat the exam to the students who have academic debt.
During discussion of current issues scientific secretary Professor Mukhtar Samedov informed about implementations of decisions and approval of the work plan of the Scientific council for 2017-2018 education year.
Finally, discussed issues were put in a vote and the decision was made by open voting.
