Training was held on “Contract of New Century” as Continuation of “Contract of Century” which was the Contribution of Heydar Aliyev to Development of Petroleum Industry”

Elkhan Huseynov: Prolongation of contract shows that, foreign countries and companies recognize Azerbaijan as a serious and reliable partner
On September 28, following training was held on “Contract of new century” as a continuation of “Contract of century” which was the contribution of Heydar Aliyev to development of petroleum industry” in Heydar Aliyev School. After greeting head of supervisory board of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic “Azerchemistry” Production Association, member of Milli Mejlis Mukhtar Babayev and other guests, the rector of SSU, Professor Elkhan Huseynov expressed his satisfaction on accepting the guest. He notified that, this kind of events is held for promoting rich ideas of Heydar Aliyev with new methods, as well as for teaching conception of statehood and Azerbaijanism of his heritage. Rector widely spoke about significant role of Great leader on statehood history of Azerbaijani nation, his services on realization of “Contract of century” and his national salvation mission. He noted that, Azerbaijan is one of the countries that have wide natural resources. Though history of oil extraction is about 150 years, our nation only had opportunity to benefit it at the end of XX century after gaining its independence. Heydar Aliyev realized this opportunity. During his leadership in Azerbaijan SSR, he paid special attention on development of oil industry, formulated petroleum infrastructure and founded oil strategy of republic. Therefore, 70-80s of XX century is considered a boost period of Azerbaijani petroleum industry. The rector mentioned that, 23 years have passed since signing of “Contract of century” which is recognized as a foundation of new oil strategy. Processing of “Azeri”, “Chirag” and deep-water portion of “Gunashli” oil fields which have rich hydrocarbon reserves is the largest petroleum project run in Azerbaijani sector of Caspian Sea. Thanks to oil strategy formulated during Heydar Aliyev’s leadership, Azerbaijan has dynamic socio-economic development, gains important achievements, executes independent policy, realizes large-scale projects, and increases budget income year by year. Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines were put into operation, North-South, East-West transport corridors were improved. President Ilham Aliyev signed a contract on recomposing joint processing and production sharing of “Azeri”, “Chirag” and deep portion of “Gunashli” oil fields. Prolongation of contract shows that, foreign countries and companies recognize Azerbaijan as a serious and reliable partner. It proves that, Azerbaijan executes adequate policy; public and political stability is in a high level in the country.
Head of supervisory board of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic “Azerchemistry” Production Association, member of Milli Mejlis Mukhtar Babayev gave speech on “Contract of new century” as a continuation of “Contract of century” which was the contribution of Heydar Aliyev to development of petroleum industry”. He noted that, holding this event in Heydar Aliyev Centre which is named after great leader has a symbolic character. It shows that, policy of Heydar Aliyev still lives and will live in Azerbaijan. Mukhtar Babayev widely spoke about historical, political and international importance of “Contract of century” by reminding its signing. Emphasizing participation of 13 prestigious oil companies of 8 countries in “Contract of century”, he notified that, it caused the signature of more 26 contracts with 41 petroleum companies representing 19 countries and thus, security of our state strengthened in international arena. Mukhtar Babayev pointed out that, prolongation of production sharing of “Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli” oil field on “Contract of century” till 2050 is of great importance for continuation of processing not only Azerbaijani petroleum, but also other natural resources.
Afterwards, the following people made speeches accordingly: professor of department of World economy and marketing Shafa Aliyev – “Heydar Aliyev and Contract of century”; associate professor of department of History and its teaching methods, section chief of History institute of ANAS Haji Hasanov – “Political aspects of Contract of century”; second course student of department of Economy and management Amina Quliyeva – “Socio-economic policy of Azerbaijan in the period of Heydar Aliyev’s power”; second course student of department of Physics and electroenergetics Saadat Shirinova – “Foreign policy of Azerbaijan in the period of Heydar Aliyev’s power”. They notified that, as a result of signing the agreement, Azerbaijani economy became to be the concern of foreign countries; Azerbaijan gained opportunity to be recognized as an independent country and join world economic system. Emphasizing the role of Great leader in signing “Contract of century”, speakers pointed out its role in development of Azerbaijan Republic, as well as the contribution of Azerbaijani petroleum to world economy throughout the history.
