Symposium Was Held on “High Education and Economic Development: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Financial Sustainability of Universities”

On December 4, at Four Seasons Hotel Baku, symposium was held on “High Education and Economic Development: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Financial Sustainability of Universities” with joint organization of Azerbaijan Republic Education Institution and British Council.
Representatives of Sumgayit State University Professor JavanshirMammadov, docents Samir Orujov and LoghmanAbdullayev participated in symposium along with representatives of other Azerbaijani universities. British Council’s director for the country Elizabeth White opening the event noted that entrepreneurship, innovation and research have become topical in high schools which play important role in providing social and economic development in global educational environment. The aim in holding the symposium is to discuss the topics related to the impact of high schools on economic development of the country through support to entrepreneurship and innovations. Representatives of two leading educational institutions of Great Britain Dr. Robert Newberry and Dr. ArunSukumar noted that establishment of modern technoparks in their schools impacts the improvement of business environment in a positive way. The suggested model is called “Triple spiral”. It includes government, industry and universities. Based on the trilateral commitment, students’ ideas in the universities are applied via technoparks and are offered to the market. Director of Azerbaijan Education Institute EminAmrullayev, Director of ADA Fund NatigHajiyev, Director of Baku Engineering University Technopark Samir Mammadov, co-worker of Newcastle University of Great Britain and leader of Research Group for Entrepreneurship Dr. Robert Newberry, co-worker of Coventry University Dr. ArunSukumar made speech. Speakers emphasized that it would be more effective to teach subject as entrepreneurship in universities for encouraging them. Thus, technoparks play essential role in finding job in future.
Suggested issues were discussed by participants, questions were answered.
