The next meeting of Scientific Board was held on December 20. Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov opening the meeting greeted Board members. He talked about ceremonial event dedicated to the anniversary of the university and noted the President Ilham Aliyev’s awards to several co-workers of the university. “It is state care for our collective. We thank to our President for appreciating our work.” Rector also notified that there are 41 majors in bachelor degree, 30 majors and 51 specialties in master’s degree at the university. Moreover, specialist preparation is carried out on 19 majors in PhD and 7 majors in doctor of sciences. Taking into consideration all above mentioned factors, with the decision of Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dissertation boards have been established at Sumgayit State University for specialties below: 3337.01 – “Information measurement and control systems (for fields)” (technical). 3303.01 – “Chemical technology and engineering” (chemistry). Defense of dissertation works will be provided for receiving PhD and doctor of sciences degrees on aforementioned majors. This is also success of our university. Rector wished the collective new achievements and success in their future work.
The meeting continued with issues on the agenda.
Director of Educational and Methodological Center Isabal Gurbanov gave information about preparation for autumn exam session in bachelor degree and Head of Master’s Department Docent Sabir Khalilov informed about preparation for autumn exam session in master’s degree in 2017/2018 academic year. They said that examination papers will be checked on time and the process will be controlled objectively.
Also, Docent Sabir Khalilov gave information about attestation results of master and PhD students in Faculty Scientific Boards; Head of Scientific Section Docent Samir Orujov informed about implemented scientific research works in 2017.
Vice-rector for Education management and training technologies docent Natig Talibov, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Docent Ulduz Aghayev, methodologist at International Cooperation Section Samira Mammadova shared their impressions of participation in trainings organized in the framework of Excellence of Teaching and Learning in Azerbaijani Universities Erasmus + PETRA project held in Gazi University in Turkey. Vice-rector for Correspondence, Distant and Extra Education Docent Gafar Atatyev also talked about his experience in trainings held in France in the framework of project called ERASMUS+LPEB – “Professional bachelor preparation in open and distant education format for energy and ecological efficiency of buildings in Russia, China and Azerbaijan”.
Isabal Gurbanov gave broad information about approval of regulations on organization and conduct of colloquiums.
Dean of Department of Physics and electroenergetics Tamella Ahmadova talked about establishment of branch of electromechanics department in Azerishiq OJSC and its regulation. Scientific secretary Professor Mukhtar Samadov informed about granting educational materials the right to publish.
Then, selection of 5 employees to the position of professor for appropriate departments and pledge by one person for receiving scientific name of docent in Higher Attestation Commission under President of Republic of Azerbaijan were reviewed.
In the end, Elkhan Huseynov gave his instructions and advice to Scientific Board members for realization of targeted duties.
