On January 5, the first meeting of Dissertation Board was held at Sumgayit State University. Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov opening the first session of the Defense Board congratulated the Board members and appreciated the achievements of SSU. He noted that there are lots of changes in different fields of education. Heydar Aliyev’s order on formation of SSU and improvement of its work made its contribution to preparation of qualified cadres. Rector also noted that according to the decision of Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, dated December 15, 2017 (protocol №21-R) FD.02.193 Dissertation Board has been established in order to hold PhD dissertation defense within Sumgayit State University. Relating to the implementation of National Strategy for development of education in our country in order to realize State Program there are 41 bachelor programs, master programs in 30 majors and 52 specializations at the university. At the same time, cadre preparation is provided in PhD and doctor of sciences in 19 and 7 majors respectively. Taking into consideration all these, dissertation boards have been established in Sumgayit State University with the decision of Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for following specialties: 3337.01 – “Information measurement and management systems (for fields)” (technical). 3303.01 – “Chemical technology and engineering” (chemistry). The defense of dissertation works which were presented for getting PhD and doctor of science academic degrees on mentioned specialties will be provided. We believe that, we would succeed to establish dissertation boards on other specialties in future. We congratulate the collective of SSU on the occasion.
Professor Akbar Aghayev, the chairman of Dissertation Board expressed gratitude on behalf of Board members to Professor Elkhan Huseynov for his hard work in establishment of Dissertation Board and for participation in the first meeting of the Board. He noted that, SSU has a significant place among higher educational institutions and establishment of Dissertation Board will contribute to the development of cadre potential in our country.
Docent Musa Mustafayev, the scientific secretary of Dissertation Board introduced the order №388 dated December 26, 2017 of Supreme Attestation Committee to Board members. He notified that, the structure of the board was approved and consists of 13 persons. Professor Akbar Aghayev, the honored teacher of Azerbaijan Republic, doctor of chemical sciences was appointed a chairman of Dissertation Board; doctor of technical sciences Agil Huseynov was appointed a deputy chairman and PhD in chemistry docent Musa Mustafayev a scientific secretary.
The meeting went on with the discussion about organizational issues of Dissertation Board.
