On February 12-14, with joint organization of WDU, Union of Disabled People Organizations (UDPO) Azerbaijan and Independent Life Development and Support Center international conference on “Inclusive high education: international trends and UNEC experience” was held in Azerbaijan State Economy University. The conference continued its work with two days’ training. Head trainers of Zayed social national defense organization of United Arabian Emirates Sharov Kigan and Tina Merk, chairman of social union of “Independent life” Aydin Khalilov, head bibliographer of UNEC library Arzu Mammadli, teacher of UNEC Management department Shahla Gahramanova, psychologist of “Logos” psychological center Rafig Allahverdiyev gave information about inclusive education and employment of students with disabilities.
In the event, head of International Cooperation Office Samira Mammadova, teacher of foreign languages department Tarana Guliyeva represented Sumgayit State University. Tarana Guliyeva is a coordinator of the Center for students with disabilities.
Consistent work is being done on the creation of inclusive education model in the country. Legal basis has been established for it. People with disabilities comprise 6% of Azerbaijani people. Azerbaijan is a member of World Disability Union which involves 85 countries. There is a state program for persons with disabilities in Azerbaijan for 2018-2024.
