On February 22, an event was held for commemoration of 26th year of Khojaly tragedy which was unprecedented bloody massacre in history. First, anthem of Azerbaijan was sounded and memory of martyrs for the sake of state sovereignty was memorized with a minute’s silence. Dean of the faculty Mahal Muradov opened the event and talked about the tragedy. He noted that Khojaly is the most terrible tragedy in the history of mankind. This tragedy was more horrible tragedy than Khatyn, Songmi and Ruanda massacres. It was against weaponless innocent people and against whole nation of Azerbaijan. That’s why it is already time of fair estimation of the genocide. For deserved punishment of genocide perpetrators youth should work actively.
Then, Free Trade Union Committee chairman docent Elmar Khalilov, head of the department of chemistry and its teaching methods docent Musa Mustafayev, senior lecturer of the faculty Sabir Alakbarov talked about the reasons of the tragic event, social-political processes of that time and notified that it was a planned crime by Armenians. Innocent Azerbaijani residents were killed with cruelty for their nationality. It was also against Turkism.
Poems dedicated to Khojaly tragedy were recited and a film about the tragedy was demonstrated.
