Victories gained by our athletes are the honorable factors for our University.
From February 21to 23 Azerbaijan Championship was held in Baku Sports Palace among teenagers and youth on freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. 126 young wrestlers struggled in 55, 60, 63, 67, 72, 77, 82, 87, 97 and 130 kg weight categories on Greco-Roman wrestling in third day of the contest. The students of Chemistry and biology Faculty FuadShahveranov was awarded II place in 130 kg weight category, Jalal Aliyev was awarded III place in 72 kg weight category. 
On February 23, Sumgayit Cup was held in Paralympic Sports Complex on shooting from pneumatic weapon dedicated to “February 26-Khojali genocide”. 7 teams from secondary special schools, vocational lyceums and the university of Sumgayit city participated in the competition. Every team consisted of 4 boys and 1 girl. In an intense and interesting competition, the team of Sumgayit Vocational Lyceum was awarded I place with 237 points, team of Sumgayit State University II place with 212 points, Sumgayit State Technical College III place with 193 points. Winners were awarded with honorary diplomas, presents and cup of Youth and Sports Head Office of the city.
Azerbaijan championship dedicated to Physical education and sports day, co-organized by Youth and Sports Ministry and Federation of Table Tennis concluded. About 60 sportsmen from cities and regions of the Republic participated in championship. Athletes from Baku, Sumgayit, Shaki, Shirvan, Shabran, Balakan, Qakh, Ganja, Salyan, Gadabay, Samukh and other regions attended the competitions held in categories of personal, team, pairs and mixed pairs. The student of Chemistry and biology Faculty NurlanHasanov was awarded I place in pair contests.
