On April 21, I stage of Olympiad entitled “Foreign language – a way to career” was held by the organization of Sumgayit State University and Sumgayit Department of Education dedicated to 95th Anniversary of Great leader Heydar Aliyev and 100th Anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. It is organized for pupils of IX-XI classes and for the first time on subjects of English, Russian and German languages. 
The purpose of organizing Olympiads is to reveal talented children, to increase the interest of pupils to subjects, to create circumstances for them to demonstrate their knowledge and ability in fair competitive environment and to expand the relations among universities and schools. The number of participants attending to subject Olympiads held at Sumgayit State University rises year by year; relations are successfully developing. Arrangement of these events helps students to gain thorough knowledge. The subject Olympiad held at our university consists of 2 stages. I stage – reading and lexical-grammatical test blocs, II stage – listening and writing. 
240 pupils participated in knowledge contest by Azerbaijani and Russian sectors. 
The winners of the Olympiad will be awarded with honorary diplomas and presents by Sumgayit State University and Sumgayit Department of Education.
