On May 4, Republican scientific conference on “Heydar Aliyev is an architect of Azerbaijani statehood” commenced at Sumgayit State University dedicated to 95th anniversary of Great leader Heydar Aliyev. 
The scholars of several higher educational institutions of our Republic participated in the conference.
At first, the attendants of the event commemorated the memory of Heydar Aliyev by laying flowers in front of the bust of Great leader which was erected in hallway of the University. 
Vice-rector on Humanitarian issues docent Ramiz Huseynov started the meeting by opening speech and spoke about the services of Heydar Aliyev to Azerbaijani people and statehood. He emphasized that: “His 95th anniversary is widely celebrated with respect and honor not only in our country, but also abroad. And this is the display of appreciation of our nation to his memory. Azerbaijani people will always commemorate him with honor, since Heydar Aliyev devoted his life and statehood experience to the future and the growth of Azerbaijan. He formulated the political and economic bases of independent Azerbaijani statehood, realized the dream of the nation of being sovereign and powerful. After returning to the power in 1993 by the demand of the people, Great leader prevented civil war and achieved the status of ceasefire. Novel thoughts will be expressed about him even after hundred years, since the period he led the country is the glorious page of our statehood history. The policy of Heydar Aliyev is successfully continued by the President Ilham Aliyev.”
The following persons delivered speeches in the conference: dean of the Faculty of History and geography of SSU Professor Adil Bakhshaliyev – ““Heydar Aliyev is an architect of Azerbaijani statehood”, Professor of Department of Humanitarian disciplines of UNEC Abbas Seyidov – “Significant works carried out by Heydar Aliyev in Nakhchivan in 1990-1993”, head of the Department of Aliyev studies of Institute of History of ANAS Adalat Gasimov – “Heydar Aliyev and army building in the Republic of Azerbaijan”. The speakers gave information about the life and the substantial activity of National leader and notified that the genius leader ruled the country in a period of crisis and could prevent the country from being collapsed. 
The conference went on in 3 sections. 180 theses were accepted to the conference and were printed as a bulk of conference materials.
