Spartakiad was held on 4 types of sports (volleyball, chess, table tennis, shooting) among faculties from April 12 to 30 by the organization of Sport club that was dedicated to 95th anniversary of National leader Heydar Aliyev.
The purpose of Spartakiad is to commemorate Heydar Aliyev, to strengthen health of students, to promote sports among them and to define the best sport collective.
Head of Sports club docent Zakir Mammadov spoke about meaningful life and wide political activity of Great leader Heydar Aliyev, the founder of sovereign and modern Azerbaijan and pointed out that his strategy gave its successful outcomes. Zakir Mammadov noted that development of sports is the part of this strategy; therefore this field is growing rapidly in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Gaining medals in various international competitions by Azerbaijani sportsmen since we gained our independence proves this improvement. We are so gratified that our students have special place among those who won medals in these contests. The achievements of our students indicate the created circumstances for development of sports in our University. Docent Zakir Mammadov wished success to students struggling for the first place.
Spartakiad launched after the speech. The sportsmen demonstrated their ability in the competition.
In the Spartakiad the team of Faculty of Chemistry and biology was awarded I place, Faculty of History and geography II place, Faculty of Philology III place on volleyball; team of Faculty of Economics and management was awarded I place, Faculty of History and geography II place, Faculty of Mathematics III place on chess; team of Faculty of Chemistry and biology was awarded I place, Faculty of Mathematics II place, Faculty of Physics and electroenergetics III place on table tennis; team of Faculty of Chemistry and biology gained 170, Faculty of Philology 124, Faculty of Mathematics 124 scores on shooting and were awarded I, II and III places.
The purpose is to reveal the ability of students in the field of sports and to promote patriotism among them.
At the end the winners were awarded with presents.
