A group of parents of SSU students observed the spring semester exam process of 2017-2018 academic year for the next time.
SSU vice-rector for Humanitarian issues docent Ramiz Huseynov greeted the guests and gave information to the parents about the exam process. He noted that the exams at SSU and Sumgayit State Technical College under SSU are regularly observed by the members of Public Control and Advisory Council, parents, NGOs and representatives of mass media. The aim is to provide objectivity and transparency, as well as accurate definition of students’ knowledge and skills. Headquarters and hotline have been created for investigation of any problem and solution of it; application and suggestion boxes are hung at the buildings of the university according to Rector Elkhan Huseynov’s order. The exams are in a written form. Exam papers are encoded at the exam headquarters just after the exam, checked by teachers and the results are announced at the same day. When the students get higher score than 17 and acceptable mark, they apply to increase their score. Therefore, a verbal examination is taken and the score is raised. If the result is not satisfactory, the previous mark remains.
Parents, together with Ramiz Huseynov and faculty deans visited exam rooms in different faculties and Evaluation and quality control section. Also, the guests got acquainted with the established circumstances at the university. They were in the laboratories and electronic library.
Then, university rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov met the parents. He informed them about work done on the eve of exam session and preparations for the exams. Rector listened to the parents’ suggestions and answered their questions. He also talked about the projects implemented at the university and complex measures held here for strengthening material-technical base. At the end of the meeting the parents thanked to the rector.
