Great leader Heydar Aliyev’s advent to power on June 15, 1993 is a glorious page of statehood history of Azerbaijan. Our people have not forgotten his services and celebrate National Salvation Day every year. On this occasion, the event “Salvation day in political history of Azerbaijan – Advent of National leader Heydar Aliyev to power” was held in Heydar Aliyev School of Sumgayit State University on June 13. 
Honored scientist, education specialist with order of Glory Professor Shahlar Asgarov, professor-teaching and student staff of SSU participated in the event. 
Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov commenced the event with opening speech, congratulated everyone on occasion of Salvation Day and widely spoke about the significance of celebrating this day. Election of Heydar Aliyev the chairman of Supreme Soviet on June 15, 1993 is the salvation date of our nation. National leader Heydar Aliyev saved Azerbaijani statehood from the threat with his second return to authority, justified the nation’s trust and paved the way for stability and progress. He notified that Heydar Aliyev protected our nation’s independence, eliminated socio-political crisis and laid the foundation of development. Reputation of Azerbaijan is growing in region and in the world. Rector said that the historical return saved Azerbaijan from destruction and the threat of civil war. In a word, Heydar Aliyev brought peace, stability, revival and progress with his return. President Ilham Aliyev, the successor of management school of Heydar Aliyev carries on his political policy successfully. His principal attitude towards territorial integrity and inviolability of sovereignty of our country, his decisions about socio-economic development are real indicators of his care to the nation.
Honored scientist, education specialist with order of Glory Professor Shahlar Asgarov delivered report on “Salvation day in political history of Azerbaijan – Advent of National leader Heydar Aliyev to power” and spoke about historical services, statehood and azerbaijanism ideas of Great leader. He achieved cease-fire in 1994, thus the country began to develop. Heydar Aliyev rescued Azerbaijani people, statehood and economy from the danger of collapse. Signing “Contract of the century” has become a substantial step at integration of the Republic of Azerbaijan into world economy and increase of its transit potential. The treaty ensured the leadership of Azerbaijan in the region in cooperation between the East and the West. In a word, reforms led to a new model of Azerbaijan.
