On June 25, scientific-practical conference on “Azerbaijan national army-100years” launched at Sumgayit State University dedicated to centennial of establishment of Armed Forces of Azerbaijan Republic. 
Rector of University Professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated our nation on occasion of centennial of establishment of Azerbaijani Armed Forces and June 26-Day of Armed Forces, gave wide information about army building in our country. He notified that after institution of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic National Army passed through difficult and complicated way. The traditions of Azerbaijani Army which was founded in the period of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic improved after restoration of state sovereignty, especially after National leader Heydar Aliyev’s advent to power with insistent demand of the people. After collapse of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic army building process ceased in the country. When Heydar Aliyev came to power in 1969 process of military cadre preparation started in Azerbaijan. In 1971 Military school named after Jamshid Nakhchivanski began to function in Baki. It required great courage at that time. Since, setting up the school for preparation of national military personnel in Azerbaijan afflicted USSR authority. However Heydar Aliyev prevented those attempts and achieved the acceptance of Azerbaijani youth to Baki Higher Combined Arms Command School and Baki Higher Military Naval School, as well as other military schools of USSR on favorable terms.
Thanks to care and attention of Supreme Commander-in-chief of Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev our National Army has a powerful material-technical base and is provided with modern weapons and ammunition. Military operations which occurred in April, 2016 demonstrated the power and might of our Army and country to the enemy and the world. At the result of counter-attack operation by our Armed Forces some areas with special importance were liberated which were under occupation. Armenian Armed Forces had to withdraw. Supreme Commander-in-chief of Ilham Aliyev mostly appreciated our Armed Forces during April fights. 
The following people delivered presentations: dean of the Faculty of History and Geography Professor Adil Bakhshaliyev – “Azerbaijani National Army 100 years”; head of the Department of Azerbaijani and Eastern European Nations history Professor Shirkhan Salimov – “Great leader Heydar Aliyev is a founder of National Army of Independent Azerbaijan”; student of Engineering Faculty Samira Ismayilova – “Army building during the period of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic; lecturer of Department of Azerbaijani and Eastern European Nations history Parviz Jafarov – “Beginning of great return-April victory of National Army”. They emphasized that Azerbaijani people will never reconcile to occupation and restore its territorial integrity. So, Azerbaijan has a mighty army.
At the end of the conference a documentary about present condition of Azerbaijani National Army was demonstrated.
