Recently, significant works have been done in the direction of disseminating scientific-technical achievements, applying scientific outcomes to the production, innovation, invention and patent-license activities, preparing and publishing scientific journals, dissertations, articles, textbooks, teaching-methodical aids at higher education institutions. Scientific researches, conducted at the universities constitute significant part of research conducted in the country. The research is run with fundamental and applied character; scientific-pedagogical cadres are prepared here. They are conducted both in the departments and scientific-research institutions. SSU’s activity has also been directed to the integration of science and education. Professor-teaching staff, PhD candidates, master and bachelor students actively participate at conducted research.

The care and attention of President Ilham Aliyev create extensive opportunities to the advancement of Azerbaijani science. This attention is highly appreciated by the rector of university, Professor Elkhan Huseynov; special conditions have been established for the employees in this direction. The employees of the Faculty of Chemistry and biology, head of the Department of Petrochemistry and chemical engineering Professor Akbar Aghayev, employees of the department, Faculty dean docent Mahal Muradov, Professor Gafar Ramazanov and docent Mushkinaz Nazarova have conducted scientific-research work and published the results in several foreign journals. These publications were printed in Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, USA, Austria, Georgia, India, Tajikistan and other European and Asian countries. It has also got patent of Azerbaijan Republic.
