On November 15, International scientific conference entitled “Information systems and technologies: achievements and perspectives” launched at Sumgayit State University dedicated to centennial of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. It was co-organized with Information Technologies Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

At first, rector of university Professor Elkhan Huseynov and conference attendees visited Heydar Aliyev Park and commemorated the memory of National leader Heydar Aliyev by putting bunch of flowers on his monument.

Afterwards the guests got acquainted with the university and viewed the books dedicated to National leader Heydar Aliyev and the photos in Heydar Aliyev Center, displaying all stages of his life and activity and his visits to foreign countries as a president of independent Azerbaijan Republic, meetings with leading state figures.

Professor Elkhan Huseynov debated with guests the mutual benefits and perspectives of cooperation on advancement of science and education. Booklets about university and presents were presented to the guests.

Along with scholars and specialists of our Republic, the scientists of several prestigious higher education institutions of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Russian Federation took part in the conference: Dean of the Faculty of Economics, business and information technologies of Atyrau University of Oil and Gas Professor Akmaral Jalgasbayeva, head of the Department of Production automation and information technologies docent Shinar Kodanova, dean of the Faculty of Applied mathematics and informatics of Moscow State Humanitarian Economic University Yelena Petruninna and assistant Elmin Bayramov, docents of the Department of Automation of machine building production equipment of Voronezh State Technical University Olga Popova, Alexey Demidov, professor of Perm National Polytechnic Research University Yevgeniy Moshev, professor of Department of Computational mathematics and cybernetics of Ufa State Aviation Technical University Mikhayil Verkhoturov.

SSU rector, Azerbaijani co-chairman of Association of Russian-Azerbaijani Universities Professor Elkhan Huseynov commenced plenary session of the conference, hailed attendees and widely spoke about establishment history of the university, its activity directions, conducted international programs and projects. He noted: “Republican and international conferences are held at our university regularly and these events contribute to the improvement of bilateral relations. Substantial projects are conducted in the direction of integrating Azerbaijani education into Europe, expanding international relations of universities. Professor-teaching and student staff of Sumgayit State University is represented in several prestigious higher education institutions of the world, gained achievements are welcomed in international conferences”.

Rector also pointed out: “Great leader Heydar Aliyev always called special attention to education and his ideas have been successfully carried out by his successor President Ilham Aliyev”. Speaking about the significance of the international conference, which was dedicated to actual subject, Professor Elkhan Huseynov emphasized that holding this kind of conference is of great importance in the century of information systems and technologies. The Orders have been signed, state programs adopted, structural reforms conducted, technical infrastructure formulated, effective investment environment created by the President Ilham Aliyev. Azerbaijan is moving forward in the development ratings of information-communication technologies”. Rector wished success to the conference participants.

Deputy Director of Information Technologies Institute, PhD on technics docent Rashid Alakbarov delivered speech in the conference and spoke about works done in the direction of establishment of information society, conducted reforms and events. Speaking about “National Strategy on development of information society in Azerbaijan Republic for 2014-2020”, docent Rashid Alakbarov emphasized that the main purpose of the document is establishing information society in the country, using effectively its opportunities for the improvement of people, society and country, increasing the role of ICT. “Holding this kind of conferences is of great importance in terms of elucidating the works done by information-technology structures. These conferences will stimulate future innovations on information technologies”.

Vice-rector of Azerbaijan Technical University Professor Ilham Pirmammadov highlighted the importance of the conference and its contributions to the development of Azerbaijani science and education.

A letter of congratulation was read by the rector of Ufa State Petroleum Technical University, Russian co-chairman of Association of Russian-Azerbaijani Universities academician Ramil Bakhtizin, which was addressed to International scientific conference “Information systems and technologies: achievements and perspectives”.

Cooperation agreement was signed between Atyrau University of Oil and Gas and Sumgayit State University on the fields of education and research within the conference.

Head of the Department of Electromechanics of the Faculty of Physics and electroenergetics of SSU docent Turgay Huseynov and head of the Department of Production automation and information technologies of Atyrau University of Oil and Gas docent Shinar Kodanova signed a memorandum in the direction of establishing relations between 2 departments.

The following persons made reports accordingly: correspondent member of ANAS Aghasi Malikov –“Application of mass service models in resource management systems: problem condition and development perspectives”; professor of Atyrau University of Oil and Gas Akmaral Jalgasbayeva – “The condition and problems of cadre preparation in the field of Information technologies in Kazakhstan Republic”; professor of Ufa State Aviation Technical University Mikhayil Verkhoturov – “Optimization problems of unstable placement of non-convex objects: features of building No Fit Polyhedron on object and discrete places”; head of Department of Process automation of SSU Professor Javanshir Mammadov – “Organization of modelling tools of management sections of technopark of higher education institution in the stage of system design”.

The conference will go on in 2 days on 6 sections.
