On November 22, the event was held entitled “World with Pushkin’s eyes” in Russian Information and Culture Center with the organization of Baku representation of Rossotrudnichestvo and participation of members of “Sfera” Student Theatre functioning at Baku Slavic University.

Vice-rector on Humanitarian Issues of university docent Ramiz Huseynov commenced the event, greeted the guests and spoke about the history of sincere friendship and neighborhood relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. He notified that Azerbaijani people have got acquainted with European and world literature via Russian language for long years and at the same time Azerbaijani literature and culture were introduced to world by this language. He said: “National leader Heydar Aliyev had great historical services in preserving frank and warm relations with Russian Federation. Today President Ilham Aliyev is keeping on foreign political course of Great leader and conducts works in direction of advancing friendly relations with Russia. This event is a sample of mutual respect and esteem between 2 countries”. Ramiz Huseynov also pointed out that well-known representative of Russian romantic literature and founder of modern Russian literature Pushkin is not only the poet of Russian people, but also one of the beloved poets of the world with humanism, the sense of love and respect to all nations in his poetry.

Chief of Azerbaijani representation of Rossotrudnichestvo Valentin Denisov expressed his gratitude to rector of university, Azerbaijani co-chair of Association of Russian-Azerbaijani Universities Professor Elkhan Huseynov for holding this meeting. Valentin Denisov highlighted that the interest is high to Russian language and culture in Azerbaijan and the role of this kind of events on the creativity of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin is substantial in strengthening cultural relations between two countries.

Members of “Sfera” Student Theatre sounded the works of the poet in Russian and performed “Eugene Onegin”, “Bakhchasaray fountain”, “Gypsies” and other works in the event.
