EDUCATIONAL EVENT “PARTICIPATE AND FIND OUT YOUR HIV STATUS” AT SSU
World AIDS day takes place on the 1st December each year. This day was founded in 1988 for drawing the attention of world community to HIV infection. For this purpose, on November 29, an educational event under the motto “Participate and find out your HIV status” was held at Sumgayit State University, co-organized by AIDS Center of Ministry of Health and Sumgayit city Department of Red Crescent Society.
The participants included Emergency situations office of Republican Red Crescent Society Elshan Salimzade, deputy executive secretary, head of Youth and volunteers office Khalida Isgandarova, chairwoman of Sumgayit city Department of Red Crescent Society Matanat Maharramova, specialists of AIDS Center of Ministry of Health and teacher-student staff of the university.
Vice-rector on Correspondent, distant and extra education docent Qafar Atayev commenced the event with welcome speech and notified that AIDS is wide-spread disease and among actual problems in Azerbaijan, along with other countries of the world. Every year educational events are held for preventing this disease in all parts of the world.
Vice-rector on Humanitarian Issues docent Ramiz Huseynov noted that the state always cares to young generation and spoke about state policy carried out in this field by the administration of President Ilham Aliyev and the works done for healthy lifestyle and reproductive health.
Chairwoman of Sumgayit city Department of Red Crescent Society Matanat Maharramova, specialists of AIDS Center of Ministry of Health Ilhama Guliyeva and Jeyhun Najafov delivered speech in the event and gave wide information to youth about HIV infection and protection ways against it, as well as healthy and secure lifestyle. They noted that AIDS pandemic is one of the most serious infection diseases of world healthcare. This disease coincides with those who have drug addiction. Spread of narcomania threats healthy lifestyle of the people.
The questions of participants were responded. Afterwards, some students and university workers were tested for HIV by specialists of the Center.
