On December 4, International Scientific conference “The role of artistic literature in intercultural dialogue” launched at Sumgayit State University. Along with scholars and specialists of our Republic, the scientists of prestigious universities of Turkey, Turkmenistan and Russian Federation took part in the conference.

Rector of university Professor Elkhan Huseynov commenced the event, greeted guests and spoke about the importance of the conference. “Learning development perspectives of national cultures, cultural processes and intercultural relations is of great importance and actual in modern period. The future of national cultures and spiritual values has become one of the problems of humanity. As the world becomes globalized, interactions and common ideas emerge in literary-artistic heritage of nations. In this regard, artistic literature has its role in forming intercultural dialogue and peace. Azerbaijanism ideas embodied not only in political, economic and ideological fields, but also literary-artistic and cultural-spiritual fields. Artistic thought and national folklore have its impact on national advancement of our nation. I hope that this conference will contribute to the improvement of our relations”.

Rector emphasized that more than 330 theses were sent to the conference, 284 of them were accepted. 224 theses were sent from several educational and scientific-research institutions of the Republic, 60 theses from foreign countries (Russian Federation, Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia, Bashkortostan, Turkey, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Georgia and Iran).

Professors Ifrat Aliyeva and Jalil Naghiyev delivered speech in the conference. They notified that this conference will be contribution to future generations to learn Azerbaijani literature.

Afterwards, cooperation agreement was signed between Ankara Hacettepe University and Sumgayit State University on the fields of education and scientific-research within the International scientific conference.

The following persons delivered report in the conference: head of the Department of Azerbaijani and foreign countries literature Professor Avtandil Mammadov – “Creation myths of world nations in the creativity of Nizami Ganjavi”, professor of Hacettepe University Akalin Shukru Haluk – “Creativity of Mikayil Mushfig as a sample of Turkish-Azerbaijan intercultural relations”, dean of the Philology faculty of SSU docent Sevinj Hamzayeva – “Demon image in world literature”, professor of Dagestan State Pedagogical University Imperiyat Khalipayeva – “”Interpretation features of epos and mythological edge”, chairwoman of the Department of Foreign languages Professor Nigar Isgandarova – “Globalization and literature: interactions”.

The conference will keep on its work on sections for 2 days. The theses of the conference have been published as a conference materials bulk.
