Day of National Salvation
The twentieth century is a special stage in the history of the Azerbaijani people. In this century, the people of Azerbaijan  achieved national freedom twice and state independence as a result of the struggle against imperial slavery on May 28, 1918 and October 18, 1991. At the end of the twentieth century, Azerbaijan, which had a historic opportunity to regain its independence, soon faced the threat of losing it. The crisis of power in the country culminated in June 1993, when chaos and anarchy engulfed the republic. The confrontation, which escalated to the level of a civil war, directly targeted not only our state independence, but also our national existence. Thus, the years of 1991-1993  is remembered in the modern history of our country as a period of chaos, arbitrariness and adventurous experiments. All this was due to the fact that the newly created independent state at that time was led by people who did not have leadership qualities, were deprived of the opportunity to assess political events, see the future, and could not find a way out of ordinary situations. Unable to properly assess the events, the government lost its prestige among the population, could not draw the right conclusions from the processes that took place. The constant occupation of Azerbaijani lands by the Armenian armed forces, the escalating political situation, the deteriorating social situation of the population necessitated the need for a leader who could save the country from these troubles and lead the people. All sections of society were convinced that Heydar Aliyev was the only person who could bring the newly independent country out of its difficult and intolerable situation. It was not in vain that our people wanted to bring Heydar Aliyev to the country's leadership. Because in 1970-1980, when he led our country, Azerbaijan experienced a great epoch of creativity in the true sense of the word, a period of strong development and progress in all spheres of life. As a result, only two republics in the former USSR - the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan - lived without any subsidies from the budget of the former Soviet Union. This showed that Azerbaijan has fully achieved economic independence, which is the most important and decisive stage on the path to political independence. As a result of the introduction of an independent domestic policy, great work has been done for the political, economic and national-cultural development of Azerbaijan. Finally, returning to political power as the savior of the Azerbaijani statehood at the request of our people, Heydar Aliyev showed that he is fully capable of overcoming these important tasks with his unshakable will, determination, rich experience of statehood and political understanding. On June 15, Heydar Aliyev was elected chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan and despite great risks he  bravely undertook the mission of salvation of the people. Speaking about the events of that period, Heydar Aliyev said, "If there is no socio-political stability in the country, if there is no healthy socio-political environment, there can be no socio-economic program or problem solving."
On June 20, Heydar Aliyev held a briefing for local and foreign journalists to inform the world community about the realities of Azerbaijan, and on June 21, he met with diplomats from a number of countries. The policy pursued in this area freed the republic from the information blockade. The opinion about our country in the world has changed for the better. It was in such a complex political environment that Heydar Aliyev's great potential became the guarantor of Azerbaijan's independence.
The personality of the national leader, his unique political leadership, charisma, determination, foresight put an end to the crisis, our people united around the ideas of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanism. Thanks to the wisdom and determination of the national leader Azerbaijan began to develop as an independent, democratic, legal and secular state. The problems facing the republic were gradually resolved, peace and political stability were established. A fundamental turn has begun in the socio-political, socio-economic, scientific and cultural life, and the integrity, solidarity and national unity of our people were  ensured.
The great leader Heydar Aliyev wanted to see Azerbaijan as a powerful, influential, democratic state, and every step and action was aimed at this.
National Salvation Day is a day of salvation of the Azerbaijani statehood. Salvation Day is a day when Azerbaijan is freed from chaos, anarchy, chaos, arbitrariness, the threat of disintegration, and regains stability, peace and democracy. The determination of the national leader brought enthusiasm to the people and restored our confidence. June 15 was not only the salvation of our statehood. This history also determined the present and future of Azerbaijan.
The people of Azerbaijan rightly accept the legacy of Heydar Aliyev as a guarantor of its independence. Our  people do not forget the services of the great savior and celebrate June 15 - National Salvation Day with high spirits every year.
All the achievements are based on the political course set by the national leader and the fact that President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues this political course. Looking at today's situation, the future of Azerbaijan looks brighter and more prosperous. Because the governance of independent Azerbaijan is in the hands of President Ilham Aliyev the political successor of the great leader Heydar Aliyev.
