The Department of Power Engineering was created by the merger of the "Electromechanics" and "Electrical Engineering and Power Engineering" departments. The department is headed by Ph.D. in physics, Assoc. Aliguliyeva Khayala Vagif gizi.

The department cooperates with foreign universities and publishing houses. Cooperation relations were established with Ufa State Oil Technical University, Kazan State Energy University, Atyrau State Energy University and their departments.
Scientific achievements:
In the last 5 years, the staff of the department published 15 (web of science), 15 (Scopus), 20 (RINS) 16 textbooks in internationally indexed (web of science, Scopus, Springer and RINS) journals; 2 patent articles have been published.
In 2013, the head of the department, Assoc. Kh. V. Aliguliyeva was the winner of Scholarship and certificate of the Swiss foundation for supporting young scientists, In 2015, the Science Development Fund under the President of Azerbaijan, n 2016, the grant project of the United Institute of Nuclear Research, located in Dubna, Russia, was allocated for young researchers of the CIS countries, In 2023, the Algarish competition of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Tatarstan for joint activities of local and foreign higher education institutions.
In 2024, the employee of the department N.M. Hajibalayev became the winner of the Algarish-2024 grant competition allocated for the joint activity of local and foreign higher education institutions of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Tatarstan.
In 2022, the head of the department Assoc. Aliguliyeva Kh.V led the students of secondary schools in the competition of scientists of Tomorrow in the city of Sumgait in Azerbaijan, organized by the ISEF international science and engineering forum of the USA. 1 bronze medal was obtained in 2022.
T.K. Huseynov, associate professor of the Department of Energy, was trained in French higher education institutions within the TEMPUS project of the Council of Europe and was awarded special certificates. T.K. Huseynov participated in the training in Italy within the framework of the Refresh project.
