OUR LECTURERS COMMEMORATED VICTIMS OF MARCH 31-GENOCIDE OF AZERBAIJANIS AT SECONDARY SCHOOL № 16
101 years have passed since the genocide of Azerbaijanis this year. Department of History and its teaching methods of Sumgayit State University arranged commemoration event at secondary school № 16 of Sumgayit city dedicated to March 31 – day of genocide of Azerbaijanis.
The historians of the Department, teachers and pupils of the school and our students, who are interning at that school, took part in the event.
At first, the memory of martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Principal of school Niyaz Suleymanov made welcome speech and notified that the historians of SSU will deliver speech to our collective about genocide of Azerbaijanis, which is one of the unforgettable events of our history, as well, aggression policy of Armenians against Azerbaijani people. This is of great importance for instilling a sense of patriotism in schoolchildren and stimulating them to learn our history.
Chairwoman of the Department of History and its teaching methods docent Sona Maharramova spoke about insidious policy of Armenians against Azerbaijani people and notified that through the history Armenians pursued an aggressive policy against our nation and time by time they made genocides against our nation with an aim to establish the Great Armenian state from sea to sea, meanwhile they made their key goal to get our historical lands with the help of their supporters.
Lecturer of the Department of History and its teaching methods Aytan Asadova made speech about “Massacres committed in Baku by Armenians”. Lecturer of the Department Shahla Ahmadova pointed out that Azerbaijani people underwent genocide which accompanied by the deportations and the degrading acts. During these terrible actions more than 50 thousand Azerbaijani people were killed.
Senior lecturer Nofal Abdullayev delivered speech on “About historical essence of Order of great leader Heydar Aliyev dated March 26, 1998 about genocide of Azerbaijanis”. He highlighted that the Order explains brutality committed against Azerbaijani people from 1813 till 1988.
Senior students of History and geography faculty Elgun Jumshudlu, Khanim Miraliyeva and Matanat Malikrzayeva spoke about “Slaughters committed by Armenians in Shamakhi”.
After speeches, junior student of History and geography faculty Aliyar Rafiyev recited “Susmaram” poem of Ahmad Javad.
