The round table arranged on “Concept in humanitarian studies” at Foreign languages department. The purpose of scientific seminar “Concept in philological thinking” and round table “Concept in humanitarian studies” is exchanging views related to research fields and methodology, attracting young researchers to this polemics, approbating the results of their research.

Professor-teaching staff of Department of Foreign languages and that of Azerbaijani language and its teaching methods, doctoral students of the Philology faculty and bachelor students of specialty of English language teaching took part in the round table.

Commencing the event by welcome speech, prof.Nigar Isgandarova notified that concept is a cultural and historical phenomenon, the output of individual and collective creativity of people and transmitter of cultural values in intercultural relations. She said: “Conceptual and cultural direction in linguistics studies concept via the word: every word is a linguistic sign in the language, the speech of speaker is a notation reflecting his/her thought”.

Speaking about notion of concept and use of it in modern linguistics, docent of the Department Shola Yunusova pointed out that notion of concept began to be researched after the second half of XX century. Despite this, this term was used in various meanings in European linguistics in different periods. Lecturer of the Department of Azerbaijani language and its teaching methods PhD in philology Gunel Pashayeva described language scenery of the world, noted creative role of language in social activity of human and tried to determine the creation of concept in language and conceptual view of the world.

The lecturer of Foreign languages department Lamia Heydarova highlighted cognitive and linguocultural approach to concept in modern linguistics, Aynura Khanlarova the importance of phraseological collocations in enrichment and conceptualization of language. Clear reflection of life and welfare of nation, its past, traditions, national psychology are seen in concepts in phraseological system of language. Lecturer Ayten Bunyatova spoke about mechanisms of cognition in linguoculturology, senior lecturer Tarana Guliyeva translation concept in artistic literature. PhD in philology Konul Isgandarova explained the development ways of communication concept. Senior lecturer Amina Musayeva analyzed the features of article headlines in mass media, docent Sona Mammadova the forms of conceptual approach in teacher and student relations in pedagogy. She emphasized that the main problem of development of person is his/her adaptation to rapidly changing society and cognitive metaphors play substantial role in advancement of teacher-student concept.

Dean of Philology faculty docent Sevinj Hamzayeva concluded round table and expressed her gratitude to the organizers.
