THE PRESENTATION OF “BİR” STUDENT-VOLUNTEER PROGRAM AT SSU
On October 25, a presentation of the “BİR” (“One”) Student-Volunteer program was held at Sumgayit State University.
The event was opened by vice-rector for Humanitarian Affairs associate professor Ramiz Huseynov. Talking about the purpose and significance of the program, about the opportunities that it provides, he encouraged students to actively participate in volunteer activities. He emphasized that the project contributes to the development of the personality of young people, the acquisition of knowledge and experience in various fields, as well as active student life, while noting the periodic participation of volunteer students of Sumgayit State University in various international and domestic events.
Next, participants in the Student-Volunteer program “BİR” (“One”), Mehman Mirzazade and Mansur Maharramov said that this program has been operating for four years and that the number of volunteers is constantly growing. Since its inception, this program, which has 6 directions, has provided volunteer support for more than 500 events. They also noted that the program was initiated by the Ministry of Education in order to create a unified database of student volunteers in the country, systematize work with them, encourage them to participate in volunteer activities and increase their social activity.
The selection criteria for participation in the program are students' social activity, organizational abilities, stress tolerance, responsibility, attentiveness, ability to analyze, creativity, susceptibility to innovation, knowledge of business ethics and foreign languages. The program is held at many universities and will allow student volunteers to participate in international events in Europe.
