The people of Azerbaijan always honor with deep respect the memory of their leader, the national leader, Heydar Aliyev.

On December 12, the staff of Sumgayit State University honored his memory by laying flowers at the monument erected in the city center for glorious son of the Azerbaijani people.

Then, in the Assembly Hall, the scientific-practical conference "Heydar Aliyev-the founder of Azerbaijani statehood" kicked off, dedicated to the Memorial Day of the national leader.

The memory of Heydar Aliyev was honored with a minute of silence. The conference was opened by the rector of the university, Professor Elkhan Huseynov. He spoke about the life and work of a nationwide leader, his role in the history of Azerbaijan. It was noted that Heydar Aliyev has a special place in the socio-political life of the people, their history of statehood and sovereignty. He has invaluable achievements in creating the concept of statehood and preserving national traditions. Having become a legend during his lifetime, he won the love not only of the Azerbaijani people, but enjoyed unquestioned authority and respect throughout the world. Interest in the Heydar Aliyev phenomenon is only growing over time. As a result of his many years of political and state activity, in the long history of Azerbaijan, he won the name of the national leader of the people. The mission of building and prosperity of the people, carried out in the recent past by a national leader, is now successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. Numerous State programs signed by President Ilham Aliyev are aimed at improving the living standards and well-being of the population.

The rector also emphasized that the SSU team is faithful to the ideas of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and will work for the good and prosperity of the country. SSU employees always support the political and economic course of President Ilham Aliyev.

Speakers delivered speech in the event: Dean of the Faculty of History and Geography Honored teacher, Professor Adil Bakhshaliyev with a report “Life and State Activities of Heydar Aliyev”, senior lecturer in the Department of Finance and Accounting Shalala Mammadova with a report “Heydar Aliyev and the Azerbaijani Economy”, senior lecturer in the Department of Philosophy, Sociology and Political Science, Ph.D. Osman Hajiyev with a report “Educational policy of Heydar Aliyev, third-year student of the faculty of Engineering Ulker Abiyev -"The ideology of Azerbaijanism of Heydar Aliyev", senior lecturer of the Department of the History of the Peoples of Azerbaijan and Eastern Europe Samir Maharramov-“Ilham Aliyev is a heir of the tradition of statehood in Azerbaijan.”

Speakers noted that the multifaceted political strategy of the national leader Heydar Aliyev aimed at the realization of national interests, is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
