On February 12, Sumgayit State University held a meeting with a working group and the foreign expert on the Strategic Development Plan of SSU.

The meeting was attended by the vice-rector for Teaching Organization and Training Technologies Natig Talibov, dean of the Faculty of Mathematics associate professor Zafar Huseynov, head of Foreign Languages Department Professor Nigar Isgandarova, head of the Department of International Cooperation and International Students PhD in history Samira Mammadova, senior lecturer of the Department of History and its teaching methods Sarvan Badalov, senior lecturer of the Department of Informatics Aygun Taghiyeva.

Vice-rector for Teaching Organization and Training Technologies Natig Talibov made a speech and expressed his pleasure to see the guest at the university. Vice-rector briefed about the university. He informed that the University"s Strategic Development Plan covers 2020-2025 and was developed taking into account the development prospects of the university. Vice-rector also noted: “As a result of the measures taken over the last 10 years to modernize the socio-economic life of the country, sustainable growth in all areas has been achieved and significant progress has been made in the development of education and science. Development of human capital, advancement based on knowledge and innovation is a priority in Development Strategy “Azerbaijan 2020: Vision into the Future”, “State Strategy on development of education in Azerbaijan Republic” and “State Program on increasing international competitiveness of higher education system in Azerbaijan Republic for 2019-2023”. Sumgayit State University aims at training highly qualified teachers, engineers, economists and managers, conducting fundamental and applied research, and contributing to the socio-economic development of our country by creating a competitive university in the European educational services market. Over the past 5 years, the education system has been developed in Azerbaijan, various state documents on science and education have been adopted, and important steps have been taken to integrate the Azerbaijani higher education system into the European Higher Education Area. One of the main objectives of Sumgayit State University is to further integrate the higher education system into the European Higher Education Area by developing recommendations for the Quality Assurance Standards in education, as well as other documents. The ever-growing reputation of our country in the international arena, its strong economy, rich potential of the staff, the joint efforts of our partners and numerous alumni increase our confidence in our goals, and our strategy will make Sumgayit State University a high-ranking modern university. In order to further integrate the Azerbaijani higher education system into the European Higher Education Area, certain steps have been taken as part of the Twinning project, a project to support the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan”.

A representative of the Kaunas University of Technology, expert on the Twinning project, Turgita Siugzdiniene expressed her deep gratitude for the warm welcome and her opinion on the University"s Strategic Development Plan. She highly appreciated the report prepared on this Plan.

During the meeting, the University"s Strategic Development Plan was discussed and an annual action plan was agreed upon, taking into account the priority areas.
