KHOJALY GENOCIDE IS ONE OF THE MOST HORRIBLE TRAGEDIES OF THE XX CENTURY
On February 24, the 28th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was marked at the Faculty of Mathematics. Victims of the Khojaly genocide are commemorated for a moment of silence.
The event was opened by the deputy dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, associate professor Mammadali Mammadov. He said, “On the night of February 25-26, 1992, the Armenian armed forces committed a massacre against the people of Khojaly with the immediate participation of personnel and equipment of the 366th Motor Forces of the former USSR settled in Khankendi. Our people will never forget the Khojaly genocide and other tragedies, these tragedies will not be erased from our memory. The criminals who committed this atrocity will be held accountable to the Azerbaijani people and will receive the punishment they deserve. Azerbaijan will soon liberate its occupied lands and restore its sovereignty over Nagorno-Karabakh”.
Then TGT faculty chair Ulkar Lachinova and other students spoke about the horrors of Khojaly. They told that the Khojaly is not only against the people of Azerbaijan, but all of humanity. The night of February 25-22, 1992 is one of the bloodiest tragedies in the history of mankind. Many people fled from Armenian weapons to forests and mountains, most of them were killed by cold and frost. Armed Armenians shoot civilians from all sides and ruthlessly fire them. Thus, as a result of the brutality of the criminal Armenian forces, 613 Khojaly people were killed, 487 were injured, 1275 civilians-old people, children and women captured and subjected to irrational insults, oppression and abasement from the Armenians. The fate of 150 people is still unknown. Ancient Khojaly was destroyed in one night.
After the speeches, a documentary film on the Khojaly genocide was shown.
