AT THE NEXT MEETING OF THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL OF SUMGAYIT STATE UNIVERSITY, DECISIONS WERE MADE THAT PLEASED THE STUDENTS
At the online meeting of the Scientific Council of Sumgayit State University on June 2, decisions were made on the examination session of the spring semester, internships, final exams, defense of graduation theses and master"s dissertations.
Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the members of the council, spoke about the preventive measures taken in the country and at the university to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the work done to ensure the sustainability of education of students and masters in a special quarantine regime. He said that all possible measures were taken to teach distance learning during the pandemic and thanked the teaching staff. He praised the active participation of the vast majority of students in online classes. Rector noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan has made changes to a number of decisions to eliminate the negative impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the educational process in the country"s educational institutions. He brought to the attention of the council members the demands arising from these changes. He noted that taking into account the organization of the spring semester of the 2019/2020 academic year online, the organization of the examination session in accordance with existing rules, ensuring transparency and objectivity in the assessment of students" knowledge, conducting examination sessions on the basis of existing regulations, In order to promptly investigate each complaint received by the headquarters and take the necessary measures, to conduct transparent and objective examinations before the session, specific tasks have been set before the university administration, deans of faculties and heads of departments.
The rector also said that based on the time constraints of the electronic resources used in online exams, we sent a letter to the Minister of Education to reduce the number of questions included in one ticket and reduce the minimum exam score, and asked for this change. Our letter was welcomed by the Minister, and as always, this time it was decided in favor of the students.
Natig Talibov, vice-rector for Teaching Organization and Training Technologies, informed about the state of preparation for the exam session of the spring semester of 2019/2020 academic year and changes in the conduct of the Final State Attestation and examination session in connection with the coronavirus pandemic and stated that the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan amended a number of decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the decision No. 179 of May 18, 2020 "On some measures to eliminate the negative impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the educational process in educational institutions" .
Vice-rector Natig Talibov gave detailed information about the organization of a number of changes in the organization of the exam session of the spring semester of the 2019/2020 academic year at Sumgayit State University.
1. Graduating students will also be considered to have passed the Final State Attestation according to the Overall achievement indicator (OAI). Students who do not agree with the score must submit their dissertations in paper form in person, if not possible by mail or electronically to the university. The defense will be organized online, subject to the requirements for the content, writing and defense of the dissertation.
2. The remaining students in the contingent will be considered to have passed the Attestation according to the OAI in case of cancellation of all credits.
3. Master"s dissertations must be submitted to the university in hard copy, in person, by mail or in electronic form. The defense will be organized online, subject to the requirements for the content, writing and defense of master"s dissertations.
4. The letter was addressed to the Minister of Education, Jeyhun Bayramov, No. 40-01-85 / 1, dated 22.05.2020, on the reduction of the number of questions included in one ticket and the reduction of the minimum exam passing score below 26 points, taking into account the time limit on electronic resources used in online examinations. As noted by our rector, our letter was welcomed by Jeyhun Bayramov, and as always, this time it was decided in favor of the students.
1. The entrance score of the exams is 49 points for everyone;
2. The number of exam questions included in the ticket is reduced from 5 to 3;
3. The minimum passing score of the exams is 17 points;
4. Summary lectures and exams will be organized from August 17 to September 15 if students who are unable to participate in the current exam session for various reasons have requests.
The exams will be conducted online through the Microsoft Teams platform or the Zoom program.
