THE STAFF OF SSU CONGRATULATED THE DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY MAHAL MURADOV ON THE GOLD MEDAL OF HIS SON AT THE 31ST INTERNATIONAL BIOLOGY OLYMPIAD “IBO CHALLENGE 2020”

Republican and international Olympiads are scientific competitions covering all schools in the country. There is currently a lot of interest in the Olympic Games. The experience of recent years shows that these competitions, initiated by the Ministry of Education, aim to identify students with special talents in various subjects, assess their knowledge and skills, increase students' interest in those subjects, and demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a healthy competitive environment. In recent years, Azerbaijani students have returned from international competitions with great success. Each of them speaks of the bright future of both himself/herself and the country he/she represents. Our students representing our country at the 31st International Biology Olympiad "IBO Challenge 2020" held online in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic have achieved great success. Matin Muradli, a 10th grade student of Sumgayit Secondary School No. 15, was awarded a gold medal, Asiman Ziyyadinov and Sadiyar Gafarov, 10th grade students of the Chemical-Biological Lyceum under the Ministry of Education, and Ranal Gurbanov, a 10th grade student of Baku Secondary School No. 102, were awarded silver medals. Thus, our students, who have participated in the Olympics since 1994, won a total of 3 gold, 9 silver and 12 bronze medals.

More than 200 students from 52 countries took part in the virtual knowledge contest held on August 7-12. The process of preparation for the competition has been carried out for 6 years at the International Olympic Training Center. It should be noted that about 300 students of different age groups are involved in the training process in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computer science.
It should be noted that Matin Muradli, who was awarded the gold medal, is the son of the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of Sumgayit State University, Associate Professor Mahal Muradov.
The staff of Sumgayit State University congratulates our students Matin Muradli, Asiman Ziyyadinov, Sadiyar Gafarov, Ranal Gurbanov, who represented our country at the 31st International Biology Olympiad "IBO Challenge 2020", on the occasion of their success and conveys best wishes.
