SSU STUDENTS TAKE ENGINEERING COURSES, ORGANIZED AT THE TRAINING AND INNOVATION CENTER OF AZERISHIG OJSC
The dynamic development of the country"s economy and its social life, both in the 70-80s of the last century and during the period of independence, along with many important factors, also affects the energy system. To ensure the rapid development of the electric power industry in the 1970s-1980s, urgent measures were taken, a number of large-scale projects were implemented. It was in those years that Heydar Aliyev worked a lot in this direction, trying to meet the needs of the republic in electricity at the expense of local resources. It can be said that in those years the foundations of the energy security system of Azerbaijan were laid. By doing all this, the great leader Heydar Aliyev foresaw the present day of Azerbaijan and believed that the time would come when this work would serve the independent state and people of Azerbaijan. During that period, the construction and commissioning of new power plants, high-voltage power lines and substations was an important step in increasing the industrial potential of the republic. The attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev, a successful successor of Heydar Aliyev"s ideas and a worthy successor of his political course in the field of electric power development, did not go unnoticed in the field of electric power. Today, the power industry is being further developed and reconstructed in accordance with world standards as a result of measures taken under the State Programs approved by President Ilham Aliyev at various times. The work done in this area is also highly appreciated by international organizations. According to the report of the Davos World Economic Forum, Azerbaijan ranks second in the world in terms of electricity availability index. These are the real results of the course of sustainable reforms that have raised our country to such a level. The energy sector, which is the basis of Azerbaijan"s modern development, also forms a solid basis for the country"s more competitive performance through reforms in this area.
The measures taken in recent years to develop the national higher education system, the changes in the world higher education space, the radical renewal of the mission of universities in public life have made it necessary to apply modern management methods in universities. The modern requirements set by employers for future specialists dictate a significant change in the purpose, content and functions of vocational training in energy specialties. Currently, the big problem of engineering training is the difference between the theoretical knowledge that students acquire in high school and the practical skills that employers and the labor market expect from them. In order to gradually move to dual education in Sumgayit State University in 2017, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Training and Innovation Center of Azerishig OJSC, taking into account that the educational process is based on the principle of dual education, which is an advanced educational technology in developed European countries. Within the framework of the agreement, a branch of the "Electromechanics" department was opened at the Training and Innovation Center. One of the purposes of opening a branch of the department was to teach some subjects in a dual system. In the 2018/2019 academic year, lectures on "Electrical and electronic devices" and "Switching devices and apparatus" were held at Sumgayit State University, and laboratory classes were held on the basis of the Training and Innovation Center.
In 2019, Sumgayit State University and “Azerishig” Training and Innovation Center jointly organized the Republican Scientific Conference on “Actual issues of personnel training in energy specialties” with the participation of several foreign scientists and held a conference on “Dual education” and round table was organized. The participants of the round table got acquainted with the dual education system organized at Atyrau State Oil and Gas University and the Training and Innovation Center of “Azerishig” OJSC. As a result of the exchange of views, along with university graduates, it was considered expedient to involve students in Engineering courses organized at the Training and Innovation Center of “Azerishig” OJSC. The proposal has already been implemented in August 2020. As a result of the online interview, along with 16 graduates of Sumgayit State University, 11 students also received the right to participate in 4-month Engineering courses with scholarship on dual education. Participants who successfully complete the courses will be registered with the Personnel Reserve Bank of Azerishig OJSC and will be provided with jobs in the future.
In general, the main goal of Sumgayit State University is to train highly intelligent, well-educated, broad-minded, strong personality and true patriotic specialists.
