The Republican scientific conference on "The role of Azerbaijan's transit potential in economic development" in the format of a video conference began on October 22 at Sumgayit State University.

Member of Milli Majlis, Chairman of the Union of Economists of Azerbaijan, Academician Ziyad Samadzade, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Economic and Social Development, MP Vugar Bayramov, Head of the Department of Trade and Customs of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Professor Arif Shakaraliyev, head of the Department of World Economy of Baku State University, Professor Hajiaga Rustambeyov, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Monopoly Regulation Problems of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, Professor Tarbiz Aliyev and the teaching staff of the university.

Opening the conference, vice-rector for Science and Innovations, Professor Ramazan Mammadov expressed his pleasure to see the conference participants, conveyed the greetings of Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov and wished success to the conference. As you know, as a result of the ongoing military provocation committed by Armenia against the Azerbaijani people on September 27, our civilians and servicemen were killed as a result of heavy artillery shelling of our settlements along the frontline.

Speaking about the importance of the conference, the vice-rector stressed that the purpose of the conference is to strengthen the trade and logistics infrastructure of Azerbaijan, its place and role in the sustainable development of socio-economic infrastructure of the country. One of the most important areas in the development of the economy in all countries of the world, including our republic, is the transport system and its development. I hope that the speakers and other conference participants will make a practical contribution to strengthening our economic security with meaningful research, scientific results and practical proposals. The vice-rector also noted that the materials of the conferences held at Sumgayit State University are included in the Russian scientific indexing database. He noted that the transport sector is one of the leading sectors of the non-oil sector. Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as in other areas, important work is being done to develop the transport sector, expand transit opportunities, implement projects. All this plays an important role in strengthening Azerbaijan's transport infrastructure and expanding transit opportunities.

MP Vugar Bayramov spoke on "Directions for the effective use of infrastructure and transit corridors in strengthening the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan." He noted that the realization of the transit potential of our country, which has a favorable geographical position in the policy of economic diversification of President Ilham Aliyev, is important. At the same time, the development of international and regional transport corridors has a positive impact on increasing the efficiency of our economy. At the same time, joint projects in the fields of transport, infrastructure and logistics expand the economic potential of our state and increase its importance.

Head of the Department of Trade and Customs Organization of UNEC, Professor Arif Shakaraliyev spoke on "Transit potential factor in the trade and logistics infrastructure of Azerbaijan", Head of the Department of World Economy of BSU, Professor Hajiaga Rustambeyov "Socio-economic efficiency of transport and transit sector of Azerbaijan", ANAS Professor Tarbiz Aliyev, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Monopoly Regulation Problems of the Institute of Economics, "The role of logistics infrastructure in the development of transit and transport services in Azerbaijan", Shafiga Mammadova, associate professor of the Department of World Economy and Marketing, SSU, spoke on "The impact of strengthening the modern army in Azerbaijan on increasing national wealth and the development of the transport-transit corridor." They noted that the transport sector is one of the leading sectors of the non-oil sector. Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as in other areas, important work is being done to develop the transport sector, expand transit opportunities, and projects are being implemented.

Executive Secretary Galib Huseynov, Head of the Department of Business Organization and Management, informed about the further work of the conference. He noted that more than 115 reports and theses from 20 scientific and higher education institutions were selected by the Program Committee, plagiarism was checked and 86 reports were included in the agenda of the Conference. The conference will last for two days in 4 sections.
