THE FACULTY OF PHYSICS AND ELECTROENERGETICS HELD AN EVENT IN THE ONLINE FORMAT "BABIES COMING FROM KARABAKH IN THE ARMS, RETURNED ON TANKS"
On February 24, Sumgayit State University's Student Youth Organization organized an online event at the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics dedicated to the Khojaly genocide.
The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the Khojaly victims and a video reflecting the tragedy was shown.
The dean of the faculty, associate professor Tamella Ahmadova, noted that this year we mark the anniversary of the Khojaly genocide in a special historical context. Finally, 29 years later, under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the glorious Azerbaijani Army liberated our lands from occupation. The political and legal assessment of the Khojaly genocide is connected with the name of national leader Heydar Aliyev. Every year since 1994, February 26 - "Khojaly Genocide Day" is marked in our country and the memory of Khojaly victims is commemorated. Today, President Ilham Aliyev demonstrates great determination to convey the realities of Azerbaijan, as well as the Khojaly genocide to the world community. "Justice for Khojaly!" Announced on the initiative of Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva. The effectiveness of the campaign is growing every year. The Khojaly genocide is gaining its true value over time. Various countries consider this tragedy as a crime against humanity.
The dean also noted that the people of Azerbaijan have been subjected to the policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide by Armenian nationalists for 200 years. The people of Azerbaijan were expelled from their historical lands, became refugees and internally displaced persons, and all this was accompanied by massacres by Armenians. The expulsion of Azerbaijanis from their historical and ethnic lands continued during the Soviet era. In 1948-1953, 150,000 Azerbaijanis were deported from Armenia and settled in the Kur-Araz plain of Azerbaijan. In 1988, 250,000 Azerbaijanis living in their historical lands were expelled from the area, making Armenia a mono-ethnic state. This tragedy, which took place at the end of the twentieth century, is one of the gravest crimes against not only the people of Azerbaijan, but all humanity.
Gunay Mammadova, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics, spoke on "Genocide committed against the civilian population with the participation of Armenian terrorists and soldiers of the 366th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Commonwealth of Independent States." Other speakers noted that under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani army dispelled the myth of the invincibility of the Armenian army for 44 days, restoring the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Kalbajar, Lachin, Aghdam were returned without bloodshed. After the end of the war, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, first met with our veterans. He stressed that we won this victory with the determination of our martyrs, veterans and the Azerbaijani army as a whole. We have become a nation that wrote our history with our blood. We can proudly say that KARABAKH IS AZERBAIJAN! KARABAKH BELONGS TO AZERBAIJAN!
At the end of the event, a video dedicated to the Great Patriotic War was shown.
