On March 30, Sumgayit State University hosted an online event titled "In the Footsteps of Victory" dedicated to the participants of the Second Karabakh War, organized by the Department of Finance and Accounting of the Faculty of Economics and Management.

The memory of our compatriots who died for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.

The event was moderated by PhD in economics Dilara Amiraslanova, Assistant of Finance and Accounting. She greeted the guests and participants of the event and spoke about the importance of the event. She noted that the purpose of the event is to present to the public the people who worked in various directions on their own initiative during the 44-day war, who contributed to the great Victory, and to further increase the sense of patriotism among our youth.

Welcoming the participants, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Associate Professor Aynura Yahyayeva said that under the leadership of President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army and people achieved a great victory in 44 days and liberated our lands from Armenian fascism for 30 years. The fulfillment of this glorious mission, the historic victory was achieved due to the fact that Azerbaijan is a strong state, has a strong economy, a strong army, and most importantly, the unity of our people around the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Mr. President stated that we will turn the liberated territories into a paradise. These lands will become the most beautiful, socio-economically developed and most visited corners of our country. The dean also spoke about the measures taken to perpetuate the memory of university graduates and students killed in the Great Patriotic War. She stressed that the families of martyrs and veterans are surrounded by the comprehensive attention and care of our state. In this regard, on the initiative of the rector of Sumgayit State University, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, professors and students of the university periodically visit the families of martyrs and veterans, show them respect and esteem.

Then, a video about the heroic students and graduates of the Faculty of Economics and Management who took part in the Second Karabakh War was presented to the participants.

Hanifa Zamanova, a third-year student of the Faculty of Economics and Management, recited the patriotic poem "I am going to Karabakh", and Ali Aliyev, a fourth-year student majoring in economics performed "Karabagh Shikastasi".

Veteran graduates and students of the Faculty of Economics and Management Farid Rovshan oglu Abdullayev, a graduate of the 781 group in Management, Hamid Agil oglu Huseynzadeh, a graduate of the Accounting and Auditing specialty, Elmin Elshad oglu Ibrahimov, a part-time student of the 717-2 group in Business Administration, part-time student of group 717-6 on economics Ismayil Vidadi oglu Ismayilli, part-time student of group 716-2 on business management Vusal Jamil oglu Verdiyev, graduate of group 716-3 on accounting and auditing Ismayil Hagverdi oglu Gurbanov spoke about the battle path, the glorious victory in the Great Patriotic War and the end of 30 years of longing for the homeland by the liberation of our lands by the Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

Then a video about the liberated regions was shown.

Emil Mammadov, a second-year student majoring in business management, recited a patriotic poem dedicated to "Our sons who went in the arms and came back on the tank", Ulviya Huseynzadeh, a student of group 722a, majoring in business management, “VICTORY” poem, Ali Aliyev, a student of group 700, majoring in economics performed “Khudayar tasnifi”.

Hijran Kocharli, the sister of Yalchin Rafig oglu Kocharli, who was martyred in the first Karabakh war (the first martyr of Sumgayit), as well as the head teacher of the Finance and Accounting Department of the faculty, said that she was always proud of her brother and was very attached to the Motherland. She stressed that her greatest wish is the liberation of our lands and his readiness to die for it.

Then Head of the Department of World Economy and Marketing, Associate Professor Malahat Panahaliyeva, Professor Shafa Aliyev, Associate Professor of Business Organization and Management Basti Orujaliyeva spoke about the importance of the event dedicated to our victory in the Second Karabakh War and the work done by faculty members to support our soldiers during the war. They wished God"s mercy to our martyrs and wished our veterans a speedy recovery.

Then, the participants addressed questions to the veteran graduates and students of the Faculty of Economics and Management about the war in the Second Karabakh War. The answers of our veterans on each question were listened to with interest by the participants of the event.

A video on the speech of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during the 44-day Patriotic War was shown to the participants of the event.

Alumni and students expressed their deep gratitude to the leadership of Sumgayit State University, staff and students of the Faculty of Economics and Management for the organization of the event and the attention paid to them.

At the end of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Associate Professor Aynura Yahyayeva thanked the organizers and participants of the event dedicated to our victory in the Second Karabakh War.
