On April 28, the Heydar Aliyev School of Sumgayit State University hosted another online training on "Zarifa Aliyeva - Mother, Woman and Scientist" on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

Opening the event, Rector of the University Professor Elkhan Huseynov spoke about the unparalleled services rendered to Azerbaijan by prominent scientist, public figure, doctor of medical sciences, professor, Honored Scientist, full member of ANAS Zarifa Aliyeva in the field of ophthalmology. He noted that the rich life of prominent scientist Zarifa Aliyeva is an example for every Azerbaijani. During her many years of activity, the scientist healed many eyes, performed the most difficult and complex operations, and illuminated the dark world of the visually impaired or completely blind. Zarifa Aliyeva was born in the family of prominent doctor and scientist, statesman Aziz Aliyev. This man had earned the respect of those around him throughout his life. He was rector, minister, deputy prime minister and always gained a great reputation for his skills and abilities. He was distinguished among party and state figures of his time by his unique political and cultural outlook.

For the first time in science, Zarifa Aliyeva studied occupational diseases of the iodine and tire industry workers, and developed measures to prevent these diseases. It is no coincidence that the research work carried out by the prominent scientist in this direction is of great theoretical and practical importance and is one of the unique researches in the world medical literature.

The rector also noted that Zarifa Aliyeva"s kindness and humanity continued by her children and grandchildren. The tireless work of President Ilham Aliyev, the son of national leader Heydar Aliyev and Zarifa Aliyeva, for the prosperity, progress and promotion of the modern Azerbaijani state in the world creates a sense of pride in the heart of every Azerbaijani. Also, the kindness of the ladies of Zarifa Aliyeva"s hearth is a continuation of this tradition for the people. First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has rendered exceptional services in the protection of the national culture of the Azerbaijani people, the system of moral values, and the inculcation of healthy values in society. Today, Leyla Aliyeva"s purposeful activity for the sake of national ideals, along with demonstrating that she is a talented and patriotic young man, also comes from a hereditary-genetic root, a healthy family

home. Leyla Aliyeva strives for the recognition of Azerbaijan in the world and the country"s realities to the international community.

Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Associate Professor Sevinj Hamzayeva made a report on "Zarifa Aliyeva - Mother, Woman and Scientist." She noted that Academician Zarifa Aliyeva played an important role in the development of medical science and public life of Azerbaijan, described her as a beautiful mother, a faithful life partner, an intellectual, innately talented scientist who combines intellectual qualities.

Afterwards Elnara Ahmadova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and its Teaching Methods delivered speech on "Zarifa Aliyeva is a pupil of Aziz Aliyev"s hearth", Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics Honored Teacher, Associate Professor Tamella Ahmadova on "Mehriban Aliyeva is a follower of Zarifa Aliyeva"s good deeds", Kanan Namazov, a third-year student of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology, spoke on "Leyla Aliyeva - the organizer of the campaign justice for Khojaly." During the speech, the speakers praised national leader Heydar Aliyev"s faithful wife Zarifa Aliyeva as a well-known scientist, intellectual and public figure not only in our country but also in the international arena, noting that for the first time in the world she laid the foundation of a new direction in the world of science - professional ophthalmology.
