AN ONLINE EVENT "MY NATIVE HOMELAND" DEDICATED TO MAY 28 - REPUBLIC DAY AT THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING OF SSU
On May 25, at the Faculty of Engineering of SSU, an event was organized by the Student Youth Organization in the online format "My native homeland" dedicated to May 28 - Republic Day.
Opening the event, the dean of the faculty, associate professor Ulduz Aghayev congratulated the staff and students on the occasion of May 28 - Republic Day, noting that 103 years have passed since the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the first secular democratic state in the Muslim East. He noted: “The Azerbaijani state has carried out many historically important works during its 23 months of existence. Our people celebrate this day with great solemnity. Because on that day - May 28, 1918, after the Gulustan and Turkmenchay agreements, Azerbaijan, which lost its independence, lived in colonial conditions for more than a hundred years, was released. On May 28, 1918, in the "Declaration of Independence", Azerbaijan was declared an independent state. The greatest wealth of every nation is its independent state. However, independence is not gained by chance or given as a gift. The path to independence goes through great struggles. Gaining and maintaining it requires sacrifice. After the return of the great leader Heydar Aliyev to power for the second time, the independence of our republic was saved from the threat of destruction. As the Great Leader said, "It is difficult to gain independence, but it is even harder to maintain it." Azerbaijan's state independence is our historical achievement, our greatest asset. In the words of the national leader, "Azerbaijan's state independence is permanent, eternal, irreversible." A worthy successor of the great leader, Ilham Aliyev has brought Azerbaijan to greater heights on the path to independence, and our country is recognized as a strong state throughout the world. It is up to you young people, who are our future, to preserve the independence we have gained. I wish every student success on this path”.
The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was sounded at the event. Students of the Faculty of Engineering Sakina Babayeva, Aysun Ahmadzade, Nurana Karimova noted that despite the short life of this independence - 23 months, it laid the foundation for great victories in the future.
Student Sevinj Mehraliyeva recited poems "Azerbaijan", Sakina Babayeva recited poems by Bakhtiyar Vahabzade "Not an inch of homeland".
