The 44-day Patriotic War, which ended in victory over the Armenian occupation, became a real school of heroism for every Azerbaijani youth. Hundreds of young people who voluntarily joined the ranks of our National Army also showed great military courage in destroying the enemy army in this war. Many of them were heroically killed in battles, others were seriously wounded. Seyfaddin Balagayev was one of the young people who rose to the peak of martyrdom.

On August 1, “Shehid bulaghi” named after the martyr of the Great Patriotic War, soldier Balagayev Seyfaddin Vahid oglu was opened in Shabran.

The opening ceremony was attended by officials of the Executive Power, family members of the martyr, veterans, public figures and the dean of the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics of Sumgayit State University Tamella Ahmadova, deputy dean Konul Hajiyeva, head of the Department of Electrotechnics and Energetics Nadir Hajibalayev, tutor Tunzala Alakbarova.

First, flowers were laid at the monument and the memory of the martyr was honored.

Speakers spoke about the short, glorious life of Seyfaddin Balagayev, his bravery in the Great Patriotic War, thanked President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for the attention and care shown to the families of martyrs.

Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics of Sumgayit State University, Associate Professor Tamella Ahmadova spoke about the historic victory of our Victory Army under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.

She noted that the historic victory in the 44-day war gave great joy to our people. Thanks to this victory, our lands were liberated from the long-term occupation of the enemy. Our country's prestige in the international arena has risen. Of course, we have achieved all this with the strength of our brave National Army, with the blood of our martyrs and veterans. They are real heroes. Martyr Seyfaddin Balagayev is one of these heroes. Speaking about her student Seyfaddin Balagayev, the dean said that he was an exemplary student. She noted that Sumgayit State University has always been proud of its martyrs. Our brave students, who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland on the night of Bloody January 20, conquered the sacred Summit of Martyrdom by signing the independence of our native Azerbaijan with their own blood. As the leadership, faculty and students of Sumgayit State University, we are proud that we are among the writers of the recent history of our people. We have really brought up not only teachers, engineers, historians, chemists, economists, but also Persons and Citizens!

It should also be noted that a memorial was erected in front of the university in memory of our graduates and students who died in the first Karabakh war, and a memorial on the marble of our students and graduates who died in the April battles and the 44-day Patriotic War on September 27.

It should be noted that Seyfaddin Balagayev was born on March 6, 1998 in the city of the same name in the Shabran region of Azerbaijan. He received his secondary education in Shabran from 2004 to 2015. In 2015, he was admitted to the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics of Sumgayit State University. Seyfaddin Balagayev fought in the Patriotic War launched by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on September 27, 2020 to liberate the territories occupied by Armenia, and took part in the battles for the liberation of Fizuli. He was martyred on October 7, at the age of 22 in the Fizuli region. Seyfaddin Balagayev was buried on October 8 in the Alley of Martyrs in Shabran.
