The brilliant victory in the Patriotic War is a clear example of the love of our people for the Motherland. Our Victorious Army showed its strength on the battlefield for 44 days and fought heroically and won. As a result of the resolute position of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the courage and bravery of the Azerbaijani soldier, the unity and solidarity of our people, the enemy"s resistance was broken and November 10 was written in our glorious history as Victory Day. November 8 became the Victory Day in the history of Azerbaijan. The crown of Karabakh, one of the most charming corners of our country, the cradle of our mugam, Shusha, has escaped the clutches of the hated enemy. Our Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020 and lasted only 44 days and ended with the Victory of Azerbaijan, was engraved in history with the brightest victories we have achieved in the last two centuries. Hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijani citizens’ longing for their homeland, who want to return to their ancestral lands has come to the end. They proved with their glorious battles and deeds that the teaching staff of Sumgayit State University not only provides education and diplomas, but also trains Heroes who create history! Under the leadership of Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov, a memorial complex was built in the yard of Sumgayit State University to immortalize the memories of students and graduates who rose to the peak of martyrdom. Along with our graduates and students who took part in the First Karabakh War, the installation of marble photos of our students and graduates who died in the April battles and the 44-day Patriotic War since September 27 plays an important role in patriotic education of students. Students regularly visit the memorial complex and remember their memories with deep respect.

On October 14, in connection with the Victory Day, students of the 539th group of the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics under the guidance of Deputy Dean Konul Hajiyeva visited the memorial to the martyrs, laid flowers in front of the university. They commemorated the souls of our martyrs with a minute of silence.

Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics Konul Hajiyeva spoke about the historical significance of Victory Day. She said that the 30-year conflict ended with the victory of Azerbaijan in 44 days. This short war, which ended the 30-year conflict in 44 days, went down in the history of world war as an unprecedented war. It proved to humanity the strength of the Azerbaijani Army and the strength of the Azerbaijani people. Therefore, our 44-day heroic war will remain a source of glorious pride throughout history.
