An online event dedicated to "October 18 National Independence Day" was organized by the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of Sumgayit State University on October 18.

The event began with the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor Mahal Muradov, who congratulated the participants on the holiday. He noted that the Constitutional Act on State Independence was adopted on October 18, 1991. Heydar Aliyev, who came to power in June 1993 at the insistence of the people, brought with him political wisdom to Azerbaijan. It was the National Leader's rich political experience, high managerial skills and inexhaustible love for the motherland that endangered the state independence of Azerbaijan. The work done since 1993 to strengthen state independence and the purposeful steps taken, have become the most reliable foundation for Azerbaijan's success today. He noted that as a result of purposeful measures taken by President Ilham Aliyev, who is continuing the policy of Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan's state independence has been strengthened, its territorial integrity has been restored and 30 years of occupation have been ended.

Elmar Khalilov, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Azerbaijan and Eastern Europe, spoke about the importance of our state independence, Azerbaijan's achievements in political, economic and cultural spheres. As a result of successful policy, it has become stronger and stronger, has become a worthy member of the international community, a powerful leader in the region.

Associate Professor Elmar Khalilov also noted that for the first time since 1991, the people of Azerbaijan celebrate this holiday in a completely different way, as a victorious nation that has restored its territorial integrity. By liberating the lands occupied by Armenia for 30 years, Azerbaijan has managed to restore both historical justice and territorial integrity.
