The next meeting of the rectorate of Sumgayit State University was held online on October 22.

Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the participants, informed them about the issues on the agenda and spoke about the development of the university in teaching and research activities.

Director of the Teaching Methodological Center Faig Shirinov spoke about the educational process at SSU and preparations for the colloquiums. He noted that the effectiveness of traditional lectures, classes, seminars and laboratory classes is high and has a significant impact on the prevention of infections. The use of masks and distance in the corridors by students during classes and breaks is always in the center of attention, and the deans of faculties, heads of departments and subject teachers have been instructed to keep these activities under control. Faig Shirinov also noted that the first stage of the colloquiums will be held from October 25 to November 5. He noted that in order to prepare for the colloquiums, it is advisable to give colloquium questions to students in advance and, if necessary, to hold additional consultation hours.

The Rector praised the transfer of the whole group to distance learning when one of the students in the academic group became infected with Covid-19, and instructed Faig Shirinov, Director of the Teaching Methodological Center, to continue this work.

Vice-Rector for Economic Affairs Naib Hajiyev gave detailed information on the state of preparations for the winter season at Sumgayit State University. He noted that repair, construction and reconstruction works are underway at SSU in anticipation of security measures related to the special quarantine regime, and spoke about the work done at the university in connection with the state of preparation for the winter season and the important issues ahead. He noted that the heating system of all three educational buildings of the university was inspected and the heating system is planned to be commissioned soon.

The rector noted that preparations for the winter had begun earlier, and instructed the heads of relevant structures to further accelerate the work in this direction, to eliminate the existing problems in a short time.

Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, Associate Professor Ramiz Huseynov informed about the work done to hold the Victory Day on November 8 at Sumgayit State University. He noted that President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev signed decrees on the establishment of Victory Day in Azerbaijan. According to the order, November 8 Victory Day will be celebrated every year. In accordance with the orders, the plan of a series of events to be held at Sumgayit State University was approved.

In order to celebrate the Victory Day on November 8 at SSU at a high level, the Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, Associate Professor Ramiz Huseynov was instructed to monitor the timely implementation of all activities in accordance with the action plan.

The rector also noted that the Monument Complex established in the courtyard of the university to perpetuate the memory of our martyrs is a permanent place of pilgrimage for SSU staff and students, and it would be expedient to visit the Monument Complex in an organized way.
