As a result of military operations lasting only 44 days under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, our brave army liberated our lands held captive by Armenians for 28 years. On November 8, after a long longing, the city of Shusha, which was of great importance and symbolic meaning for the people of Azerbaijan, was liberated from occupation. The liberation of Shusha, the crown of Karabakh, entered the world military history as a unique military operation. Thanks to the political wisdom and decisive will of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev, the courage and bravery of our soldiers and officers, the unity of the people and the army, our lands were liberated from enemy occupation.

It is worth noting with high pride that students and graduates of our native university are among those who hoisted the tricolor Victory Flag in our ancient lands freed from Armenian slavery. The victory was not only the greatest victory of 2020, but also the greatest victory of recent centuries! In this Battle of Victory, dozens of graduates, students and employees of Sumgayit State University and their families fought heroically, showed courage and won the title of victorious soldier. The victory in the Great Patriotic War also cost the blood of thousands of our martyrs. We bow to the souls of our martyrs with deep respect and reverence, we remember their memory together.

In connection with the Victory Day on November 8, Sumgayit State University hosts a series of events, scientific conferences, seminars, lectures, round tables, regularly visited by the families of students and graduates who rose to the peak of martyrdom by staff and students. On November 5, in connection with the Victory Day, members of the University Trade Union Committee, Student Youth Organization and Student Scientific Society visited the memorial of students and graduates, laid flowers in front of the monument, died for the freedom and territorial integrity of our country. They commemorated the souls of our martyrs with a minute of silence In his speech, the chairman of the Student Trade Union Committee, Associate Professor Nemat Ibayev said that Azerbaijan always appreciates the courage of the sons and daughters of the fighters, respects the spirit of all our martyrs and honors their memory. Our soldiers and officers, all our martyrs, who fought heroically in the Great Patriotic War, waved the Azerbaijani flag in our liberated lands and sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, are remembered with deep respect. The combat tactics and techniques used by our country during the Great Patriotic War were watched with interest all over the world. Today, we can proudly say that the Azerbaijani Army is the army that introduces the highest level of innovative innovations during military operations. During the struggle for freedom in the Great Patriotic War, a lot of equipment and ammunition belonging to the occupying Armenian army, which left its weapons and fled, were seized as military booty. During the battles, a large part of the military equipment belonging to the Armenian armed forces was destroyed, and those seized in good condition were handed over to the Azerbaijani Armed Forces as booty. It was gratifying that military equipment that once belonged to Armenia was included in the list of military equipment passing through Freedom Square in Baku. It was a source of national pride for each of us. The victory parade went down in history as a symbol of pride, honor, dignity for the people of Azerbaijan, a defeat for the Armenians, a bitter lesson in the policy of occupation. Victory Day once again showed that the independence of a nation with a professional army is eternal, and the strength of this army lies in its loyalty to its people and state, and love for the Motherland. We are grateful to our Supreme Commander-in-Chief, who gave us this Victory, to the brave Azerbaijani Army, to our brave sons who gave their lives for the Motherland!

In her speech, Lala Bunyatova, Chairperson of the Student Scientific Society, noted that the Patriotic War, which began on September 27 and lasted 44 days and resulted in the return of our occupied territories, including Nagorno-Karabakh, has become the brightest page in our history, a source of pride. The people of Azerbaijan united closely around their leader - the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and demonstrated their strength, tenacity, and struggle to the whole world. Today, Azerbaijan has reunited with Karabakh, achieved a historic victory, avenged our martyrs, victims of Khojaly, innocent people who died during the genocides in Ganja, Barda, and other cities and regions on the battlefield, showed Armenia where they belong. It is the determination, political will, strong army, brave soldiers and officers of our President, a worthy successor of the political course of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, that gave us this victory.

In his speech, the chairman of the Student Youth Organization Tayfun Hajili said that each of us is living the glorious history of Azerbaijan. Our victorious army, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, wrote a new history of Azerbaijan. Today, all the youth of Azerbaijan unite around Mr. President like a fist and express their support for him. Azerbaijani youth gave worthy response to the enemy both on the front and in the rear - in the information war. Today, young people with a high intellectual level, a sense of patriotism and national thinking have been formed in our republic. The role of Azerbaijani youth in the socio-political life of our country is growing every day, and the existing youth organizations in the country operate thanks to the conditions created by the state. As a result of the President"s support and attention to the youth, the confidence of the Azerbaijani youth in their strength and talent has increased. Young people, in turn, always feel this care of the state and try to justify the trust placed in them with their achievements. In recent days, every citizen of Azerbaijan, especially young people, has been very active in the information war and responded adequately to the enemy. They used every opportunity to convey the truth about Karabakh to the world, especially to international organizations involved in conflict resolution. Today, each of us is proud and happy. We ended the battles for Karabakh with victory. Thanks to the strength of our army and the heroism of our soldiers, we gained our lands piece by piece. The restoration of Azerbaijan"s territorial integrity as a result of the Patriotic War is a great victory, and the people of Azerbaijan have won a historic victory under the leadership of their wise leader.
