A series of events dedicated to the poet"s jubilee are being held at Sumgayit State University as part of the "Nizami Ganjavi Year" announced by the relevant order of the President. On November 26, in the Great Assembly Hall of Sumgayit State University, in accordance with the quarantine rules, the Student Trade Union Committee of the University and the Student Youth Organization jointly organized a seminar dedicated to the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi. A review-competition of paintings was held. The purpose of the competition, dedicated to the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi, a prominent representative and thinker of classical Azerbaijani literature, is to form humanistic principles, universal values, feelings of love, spiritual richness, and perfection in the younger generation.

Well-known artists of our city - Nizami Dadashov, founder of Sumgayit State Drama Theater, artist of progress medal, artist of Sumgayit Child and Youth Development Center No. 1, Murad Karimov, winner of Progress Medal, Sumgayit city Children No. 1 - Rashida Bagirova, an artist from the Youth Development Center, and Kheyransa Jalilli, an artist from the Child and Youth Development Center No. 1 in Sumgayit, participated.

The artists valued the works on display at the exhibition from an artist"s point of view and wished new success to young and amateur artists. They praised the youth"s appeal to the legacy of Nizami Ganjavi.

They noted that the celebration of the anniversary of the great poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi at the state level is a great contribution to the promotion of Azerbaijan"s rich historical and cultural heritage. Nizami"s work has become an integral part of the morality of our people. For Nizami Ganjavi, the highest criterion of personality was humanity. Its heroes fight for justice, the happiness of the people, high goals. Respect for human personality and human labor is one of the leading themes of the poet"s work. Nizami Ganjavi was also a patriotic poet. He tried to connect all the events he described with Azerbaijan, to glorify the past days of his homeland. In Nizami Ganjavi"s work, patriotism is combined with the idea of heroism in the way of the native people. They noted that our heritage and modern Nizami Ganjavi will exist as a thinker and poet as long as the world exists.

Then, the students" paintings were evaluated by well-known artists by secret ballot on a 10-point scale.

According to the results of the competition, the first place was awarded to the first-year student of the Faculty of Economics and Management Turkan Seyfullayeva, the second place to the third-year student of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology Malak Bairamova, the third place to the third-year students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology Nilufar Aliyeva and Elkhan Gambarov.
