On March 2, Sumgayit State University hosted a meeting of MPs and students on "Women and Youth Policy in Azerbaijan."

First, the rector of SSU, Professor Elkhan Huseynov and deputies laid flowers at the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the lobby of the university.

The guests viewed photos and books dedicated to the great leader at the Heydar Aliyev Center, reflecting all periods of the rich life and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev, including his visits to foreign countries as President of independent Azerbaijan, meetings with influential statesmen. Deputy Hijran Huseynova and Emin Hajiyev wrote their heartfelt words in the memorial book.

Then the meeting with the deputies continued in the Great Assembly Hall.

Rector of the University, Professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the guests and participants of the event, expressed satisfaction with seeing them at the university and noted that the topic was dedicated to topical issues. He noted that the measures taken to address the problems of society, youth policy, family and women are important, and both policies continue successfully in our country. The rector emphasized that today Azerbaijani women are active members of a democratic society in our country. Great Leader Heydar Aliyev always praised the services of women - their contribution to the healthy, patriotic upbringing of the younger generation, and always paid great attention and care to them.

The rector also stressed that historically, every nation hopes for a happy future for the younger generation. Raising a young generation is also a priority for the country. As the most dynamic group, young people take an active part in socio-political, socio-economic and cultural life, and are at the center of all processes taking place in the country. The successful 44-day Patriotic War has once again shown that the future of our country is in safe hands. The Second Karabakh War showed how much the Azerbaijani youth love their land. Our young people bravely demonstrated their patriotic feelings both on the battlefield and in the information war. Responding to the call of President Ilham Aliyev, our young people with great enthusiasm took up arms and liberated our lands from occupation. Our tricolor national flag was raised in Karabakh, our ancestral land. The Azerbaijani soldier regained the pride of our people with his new history. We are proud that among these young people there are also graduates of Sumgayit State University. Our university, which instills a sense of patriotism to young people, always remembers the memory of our martyrs.

Emphasizing the high level of patriotism at SSU, the rector called on students to be worthy of the name of our martyrs and to achieve high results in education.

The rector also noted that today Sumgayit State University conducts training at all levels of education, including the doctoral program.

Deputy from Sumgayit First Constituency No. 41, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Family, Women and Children Hijran Huseynova greeted rector professor Elkhan Huseynov and his staff, thanked them for the invitation to the event and made a report on "Women"s Policy in Azerbaijan". He noted that it is an undeniable historical fact that the definition of the main principles of state women"s policy in our country and its promotion to the state level is connected with the name of Heydar Aliyev. She informed the importance of promoting women in all areas of governance, decision-making and social life. Protection and promotion of women"s rights in Azerbaijan, giving them high privileges, increasing women"s participation in the implementation of state policy and adoption of laws have been an integral part of Heydar Aliyev"s policy. In our country women"s issues are always under the care of the state and the gender program is consistently implemented.

Emin Hajiyev, deputy of Sumgayit Third Constituency No. 43, greeted the participants and made a report on "Youth development in Azerbaijan and education issues abroad", spoke about the importance of state youth policy in our country, president Ilham Aliyev"s attention and care for young people. State Program on 2022-2026 for countries to study in prestigious higher education institutions ”. He noted that the main goal of the State Program is to provide young people with opportunities to study in prestigious foreign universities, to ensure the future development of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to respond global challenges ,adopt modern technologies and to ensure that they are trained as highly qualified professionals.

The state youth policy implemented under the leadership of the president has given impetus to the development of Azerbaijani youth, and a number of state programs successfully implemented within this policy have been approved.

The deputies exchanged views with students on various topics, answered their questions, wished success to young people in their education, and expressed confidence that their education at Sumgayit State University will be the basis for their future success.
