The closing and awarding ceremony of the debate-oratorical tournament on "Higher education is necessary for personal development" dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Sumgayit State University organized by the Student Youth Organization, the Student Trade Union Committee and the Debate Club was held on April 14.

The ceremony was opened by Emil Mammadov, chairman of the Debate Club of SSU, who greeted the participants and gave detailed information about the debate-oratorical tournament on "Higher education is necessary for personal development", spoke about the purpose of the program and the work done within the program. . Along with the judges of our university, the competition is accompanied by judges of the Debate Civil Society. The Albatros team from the Faculty of Mathematics and the Yeah Team team from the faculty of History and Geography proved to be the strongest teams and qualified for the finals.

Then the competition between Albatros and Yeah Team started in the final.

As a result, the "Yeah Team"  won.

Rector of the university, professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the participants, congratulated the winning team, informed about a series of events and recent preparations for the 60th anniversary of the university. He praised the activities of the debate club, spoke about the  unique role of debates in the development of youth, youth policy in the country, the attention and care given to youth. He noted that the state youth policy, founded by National Leader Heydar Aliyev is being successfully continued today. Azerbaijan's growing economic power allows it to take more effective measures to ensure the physical, intellectual and spiritual development of young people, solve social problems, support innovative ideas and initiatives, reveal their knowledge and skills  and implement large-scale programs and projects. Today  young people are closely involved in the socio-economic and socio-political life of our republic. Having achieved success in science, education, culture, sports and military construction, they make a worthy contribution to the promotion of Azerbaijan in the world, the defense of our homeland, strengthening our territorial integrity and state independence. He noted that holding such events will help young people to grow as professionals, regardless of their future work in any field.

Chairman of the Debate Civil Society Ulviyya Akhundova, dean of the faculty of History and Geography professor Adil Bakhshaliyev, chairman of the Student Youth Organization Tayfun Hajili spoke about the importance of the debate for the future life of students. They wished the participants of the debate success.

At the end, the winning team was awarded a cup  and a medal, the best speakers were awarded a medal and all participants were awarded certificates.
