On July 19, the final presentations of our employees who graduated from the English language courses organized for university teachers were held in the small assembly hall of SSU.

Rector professor Elkhan Huseynov  greeted the participants, spoke about the importance of the project, and stated that one of the many conditions that ensure Sumgayit State University"s place among high-ranking universities is the teaching in English in various specialties. For this, one of the main tasks is to train lecturers who have a high level of oral and written English, communication skills and are distinguished by their professional and academic skills in a foreign language. During the past years, our university has been the author and participant of many projects in this direction.

Speaking about  international relations of SSU and important successes in the direction of teacher-student mobility, the rector also emphasized that, taking into account the importance of deepening the integration between the fields of science and education and expanding cooperation with foreign universities, which is the demand of the time,  in order to  prepare highly qualified personnel SSU closely cooperates  with the world"s leading higher education institutions. Our goal is to ensure the training of competitive and highly qualified professional personnel who can flexibly adopt new technologies that will respond to global challenges, acquire practical knowledge and skills, meet the requirements of the modern and future labor market.

Expressing his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful completion of the training organized by the department of Foreign languages, rector  Elkhan Huseynov congratulated the employees on the achievements.

Then, the head of the department of Foreign languages ​​of the faculty of Philology professor Nigar Iskenderova  gave extensive information about the purpose of the English language courses organized for university teachers, and stated that the realities of the modern era require the development of communicative and communication skills of those working in the field of education. When it comes to communication skills, first of all, English-speaking teachers, their competence and skills improvement come to the fore. The increasing importance of the English language in recent years requires flexibility and special abilities from the teachers of this field. For this purpose, a new project was launched on the eve of the 60th anniversary of Sumgayit State University. With the initiative and support of the rector of the university, professor Elkhan Huseynov "intensive English language groups" were created in order to improve the English language skills of professors and teaching assistants. 107 employees from different faculties and departments of the university applied to participate in these lessons. A test was conducted to determine the English language level of the participants, and as a result, 6 groups were created, one of which was consired for the intermediate level, and five for the elementary level. Classes were conducted twice a week. Listening, writing, reading and speaking skills were developed and improved by using various technical tools, textbooks and workbooks in the classes.

Senior lecturers  of the department of Foreign languages Dilara Karimova, Kamala Yahyayeva, Khatira Yusibova, Sevda Safarova, lecturers Ayten Bunyatova, Aynura Khanlarova and Rufat Ibrahimov conducted the exercises in the groups.

Professor Nigar Iskenderova also noted that these lessons , which aroused the great interest of the teaching staff of the university, created an incentive for them to master the English language better. At the end of her speech, she expressed her gratitude to rector professor Elkhan Huseynov, the author of the idea  for his attention and care for the successes achieved in a short period of time.

Then, a group of teachers who participated in the course made presentations in English covering various topics and expressed their gratitude to the university administration and the faculty of the department of Foreign languages ​​for the knowledge and skills they acquired during the course.
